his defense worked well against the level of opposition he faced. When you move up the ladder to the likes of Lewis or Witherspoon, it is a bit different
You can go up the ladder form Lewis. He was down 4-2 on all three scores cards and round 2 could have been a 10-8 round. Vitali was fighting with a bad cut too, you can not says so and so would be so lucky is my point. That and Witherspoon is no Lewis. And it was Vitali only bad cut in his pro and amateur kick boxing career....a lot of match as least 275 of them.
His point is that Vitali's defence did not work against Lewis. That should be apparent, "given the state of his face". How to put this in a language youwill understand... Ah, yes - Punchstats have Lennox Lewis landing forty-six percent of his jabs and forty-nine percent of his power punches. Vitali was landing 43/41. This is as dramatic an illustration of the fact that Vitali's defence did not work against Lewis as can be imagined, if you actually need a second one.
This is interesting, especially if we consider the Holmes-era Spoon. Hmmm...if Vitali takes Spoon into the later rounds, he takes it with a bit of room to spare. Spoon is dangerous, though...
Why don't you list everything? Hide noting. Lewis was landing 17 total punches per round. In his other fights, Lewis had no problem landing 17 punches for the first six rounds did he? That is not a lot, and we are talking about Lennox Lewis. Those of us who watched the video will see that Vitali made Lewis miss badly, and bad as he did ever. Besides we are pitting him vs. Tim Witherspoon who lack the size and reach to match up in comparisons to Lewis. https://boxrec.com/wiki/index.php/Lennox_Lewis_vs._Vitali_Klitschko
Everything? There's a lot of information out there surrounding this fight - you can't share all of it every post. This is very, very interesting. You normally worship faultlessly at the alter of punchstats, it's punchstats all the way for you. You don't rate these punchstats I see? Fortunately, I'm not interested in the periphery. I just know that Lewis landed at one of the highest rate of his career. It's very, very rare to see a puncher land basically half of their power-punches - that is very, very rare, almost unheard of. DO you know if Lewis ever landed at a higher rate over more than 2 rounds? I'm satisfied it proved that Vitali's defence wasn't up to it at that level. Also, it should be shared here, as you requested more information: Lewis landed a whopping 43% of his jabs - crazy. That's very rare, too.
Wow. I just checked and Byrd managed 50% on power shots against Vitali. That is crazy. So Vitali fought two genuinely elite heavies, one of them great and he's giving up 49.5% PP against them. I think Witherspoon might beat him you know.
Witherspoon is one of the greatest heavyweight contenders of all time. Yes I know that he was a two time champion, but the thing that jumps out of his record at me, is how long he was relevant as a contender. It is unusual in the history of the sport. What I am saying is that he was inconsistent, but he did not have to be at his best to be dangerous, and he was hell on wheels when he got it all together. That is not the kind of fighter that anybody should be taking for granted. If Vitally offers him a nice green strap if he wins, then he is going to have a fight on his hands!
Vitali getting dropped by a right hand by a soup can , marked. Is it a lie to say Spoon was more skilled? Is it a lie to say Vitali never beat a guy better than Spoon? Its only reasonable to say he has a chance This content is protected
Joe Louis is certainly lucky his defensive capabilities vs his peers were above that of Vitali or we may not have heard of him.
I like Witherspoon but Vitali was so much more disciplined and mentally tougher ... he also had a rock chin ... Vitali by decision ..
