Similar calibre fighters no doubt. P4P Floyd probably edges it.

Oh come on guys, Galento comes nowhere near Floyd's class, skills or accomplishments. Of course, since the OP didn't specify, Galento may be better than Floyd Mayweather Senior,

Galenteno etches Ray Leonard overall in terms of competition. Could Leonard drop Joe Louis? Enough of a reason for me to pick the better man and his name is Tony.

Galento probably mastered the dark art of fouling to a greater extend. He was prolly in Zivic and Greb tier.

H2H i'd go for Galento. That huge gut/weight advantage and his bullying, dirty, foul filled style would be too much and god it would be funny to watch.

My bad. I misread - I thought the thread title was referring to TONY GELATO.

What a great fighter he was.

No, you won’t find anything on him on Boxrec - his was a ridiculously successful and extensive career - researchers are still piecing it together to get it just right before entering his complete record into the system.

He used to regularly beat up his sparring partners, including a very young Sonny Liston who said “Sure, I wanna win the title, just as long as I don’t have to fight Gelato on the way up!”

Gelato’s weapon of choice was, of course, his Waffle Cone punch - remember that one? The man was truly a one-off.

I could say SO MUCH more about Gelato, but alas, this thread isn’t about him, so I won’t.

Not really. Calling a a man who went 24-0 against past or current belt holders and 5-0 against hall of famers a “ cherry picker “ is pretty mind boggling.
