Not sure it will go as well as Matchroom might like. McKean can bag a small but solid crowd in Queensland but as Joshua's stock has lowered a bit it might be a bit of a risk. Hearn might have to rely on a lot of expat geezers to buy tickets to fill a larger venue. Eduardo would have also factor in it's footy season in April. AFL and Rugby League get by far the most attention domestically. A lot of the bigger domestic fights tend to be mid week to get a bit more of the market watching. DAZN's first foray into boxing down here was fairly conservative. It was a small less than 2000 seat venue, with Dempsey the co-main from memory but I think it went ok.
Hearn can't risk another Femi loss so a bum like McKean with a padded 22-0 record of club fighters is ideal.
If it comes off it's a huge opportunity for Demsey and good for him. I honestly thought he would be fed to someone like Fabs or Serie B Whyte.
I think everyone knew McKean was going to the guy. They just didn't know who McKean was. If this fight happens, it's time for AJ fans to take a good honest look at their hero. This would prove beyond any doubt that AJ had NO intention of fighting Fury in December. You don't go from Fury to an unknown and pretend you were looking for anything but an easy fight after Usyk. This would also be more major evidence that AJ ducked Wilder all along. Wilder got KO'd twice by Fury, then fought Helenius (in form). AJ loses on points twice and fights someone like this. People honestly want to claim AJ is the more fearless and less protected brand? Laughable. Even if he doesn't fight McKean, the fact this is even in the conversation is utterly surreal and exposes Hearn and AJ massively.
Lol I was just going to say I heard AJ was looking for Mark but couldn't find him (hint..he's in Croatia but dont tell Eddie Hearn).
The Croatian sensation!! Totally forgot about him but there he is still plugging away. This bloke has slayed more Hungarians than an Ottoman Jannisary.
There's always that chance. Joshua is only a significant favorite on paper, but he's a mental midget and will fold to any form of resistance. Once he realizes McKean wont lay down he might quit
