If Fury loses to Usyk, will this change your opinion of him being one of the greatest of all time?

If Fury convincingly wins, and then also convincingly beats AJ and Joyce, then he'd deserve the title as being the best of his era, but never one of the greatest of all time. Never. There's just not enough there to demonstrate that.

If he loses to Usyk, then i'd say he just got exposed for being a mediocre champ of a mediocre era.

 

He does not have the longevity or resume to be in the conversation of GOAT.

Needs to beat Usyk, and Joshua to be even considered. Even then, he is below Louis, Ali, Lennox, Foreman and etc.

 

Depends if he has a good pinky toe excuse or similar.

8 years and people still doing mental gymnastics trying to prove Fury isnt the GOAT when clearly he is.

 

I'm conflicted on Fury. I think he has the skills to be one of the best, absolutely. But eh... the resume is just too damn thin right now. He beat Wladimir Klitschko, which is impressive even in spite of the latter's age, but I mean... that's one big victory. His only other big victories have been against Deontay Wilder. Yeah it's impressive that he was able to recover from that power so many times, and that absolute thrashing he delivered in the second fight is a sight to behold, but Wilder is a pretty one note boxer. That it was against such a lacking fighter kinda diminishes it, which is a shame because again, the performances themselves were incredible.

I like Fury as a boxer. I think his WWE esque stage persona is kinda grating, yeah, but whatever, the dude's talented and that's what I watch for. I want him to get some better names on his resume so that he can get that status of being "one of the best" and we can get more good fights to look back on one day. So even if he loses against Usyk, and yeah I'm hoping for that result because Usyk is one of my all time favorite fighters, I'll consider him closer to being great just for taking that challenge. Almost all of the greats have losses, so I don't think that when two of the best of a generation go at it the loser should be taken out of the running for being one of the best.

So all that being said, fighting Usyk is a good step toward greatness, beating him would be a huge step, but he'd still be at about Riddick Bowe level; talented, but with more of a "what could have been" career than anything else. He would need just a bit more before I'd consider him one of the all time greats. Preferably fights against AJ and Joyce, maybe even Ruiz, but I'd take him beating a handful of well rounded contenders like Hrgovic, Bakole, Sanchez and even Zhang, among others.

Or I dunno, maybe I'm just greedy for good fights and hope that if I keep mentioning them they'll be willed into existence.

I opted for No , whilst I don't think Tyson is yet to be considered an ATG of the sport I have enjoyed the good , the bad & the sometimes ugly he's adding to a let's be fair somewhat boring division , could you imagine it without him , who would we have ? The sort of funny Usyk ,Chisora or the mind numbing boring Joshua , Wilder etc

This right here. To be an ATG you have to have some other ATG'S on your resume. He certainly has one...Wlad Klit. I consider Usyk an ATG at CW; defeating him at HW would be a bonus.
