I am so grateful to have witnessed the days of Roy Jones Jr in his prime. It wont be witnessed again

I really didnt start watching boxing until early 90's. It was exciting at the time.

    ODLH was a rising star
    Pernell Whitaker fights were amazing
    Chavez was wrecking people
    We had Felix Trinidad
Nassim and all the crazy **** that followed him

But without a doubt. . . the most entertaining fighter was Roy Jones and although Holyfeild was my favorite fighter at the time, Jones is truly the person that made me a fan of boxing

So are we just going to forget about him whipping prime Toney and Hopkins?

No we're not, great wins but the only solid names in his first 30 fights. Sucks the rematches didn't happen soon after, he probably would have beat them again but interesting to see what the adjustments would've been.

The Hopkins rematch was all Hopkins fault. He didn't want to take the 40% which was more than fair.

The main thing about the Mayweather TUE, was the fact Manny was denied his request. I think a TUE is good if it keeps a fight on schedule and administered equally. And the issues should bet vetted deeper.

Guessing you don't watch football. AP was great but he was no Barry Sanders. First of all AP played 6 or 7 years longer than Barry and still rushed for less yards. One guy ran over you at near 6'2 225 lbs and the other was a 5'8 200 lb magician that made people look ridiculous.

That is like saying we have already seen another RJJ, his name is Gennady Golovkin...lol

Yea, AP doesn't belong in the same sentence as Barry Sanders

Yea its crazy but its very possibly on the way. Rio 16 Olympics were the first ones where they are keeping samples for future testing if athletes are doing that (if I'm remembering this right)

I used to cheer for Roy Jones Jr. so hard after they stole his Olympic Gold Medal from him. He is the best boxer I have ever seen in 51 years of watching the sport. I was always amazed at his speed, reflexes and combinations. Just incredible!

Roy was awesome to watch, no doubt but as others have said, as soon as he had any decline in his physical gifts it was very obvious he didn't have the fundamentals to get by on. Someone like Floyd though is so technically superior he can fight at a high level even without his amazing athletic ability. Just my opinion. Not hating on RJJ, but I wish he would have accomplished more in his prime.
