I actually quite like hearn. Think hes been good for british boxing. But his and benns credibility shot to pieces. They knew about the failed tests. When it came to light you really need an immediate plausible explanation for it to have any chance. One that benn or hearn neither had. They,ve basically just hid benn in the background and tried damage limitation since that point. I understand hearings etc....but regardless you should defend yourself with an explanation from day one. I think as soon as that test shows positive....everyone including the promoter needs to distance themselves from the boxer until proven innocent at that point. Too dangerous a game to knowingly allow it. I will await the explanation but its too late at this point. Should have been explained on day one followed by proof that by my reckoning is pretty hard to prove. As soon as you fail that test surely its a case of looking back and immediately finding a reason for that failure otherwise its too late for explanations months down the line. Its not about sticking up for your fighter or your mate at the point their at. Its about having an explanation and proof for that failure. If you dont have it....you need to be banned. The promoter should be as well for sticking up for the failed fighter without a reasonable explanation from the beginning. One that for some reason they never shared.
Good post. Clearly they haven't got a real explanation. The worst thing about it us after the first fail they must have all got together and found an explanation surely? If not they are all complicit including the board of just blatantly ignoring a failed test.
Welcome back. I was hoping you’d taken a voluntary leave of absence to help with the 270 page dossier
Back on day release only as I'm off to Tenerife tomorrow for 4 nights with the missus for my 30th. Hopefully upon my return Benn has proven his innocence and Matchroom have announced their 7 UK shows between January and April.
Enjoy your holiday. UK shows from February - May look like Wood Lara, Callum Smith March 11, Joshua April 1, Whyte in April / May, Dalton Smith in late April / May, Joe Cordina Rakhmiov April 22, and maybe a NxtGen show in Newcastle.
AJ fighting a corpse on PPV, Dillian fighting a corpse, Dalton Smith could be good, Joe Cordina's card will be very interesting to see if the Matchroom gyms one punch power still exsists
Should have Whyte on the undercard of AJ and have them square off in the ring after to announce their fight with each other. Might make it a bit more PPV worthy if AJ is fighting McKean. I doubt Whyte's opponent will be too difficult either as they won't want to scupper that fight with one of them getting beat.
