I think Haney might actually be the best 135 pounder, no doubt about it now

Great post. Lomachenko is greatly underrated, I think it has to be because of his ethnicity. Look at all the hype Tank gets, and for what exactly? Lomachenko moves to 130 and blasts out the champ with a brutal one punch knockout, Tank blasts out a faded 122 fighter (Santa Cruz) and who gets hyped up as a devastating puncher? Lomachenko dominates an undefeated champ like Walters, Tank is in a 50-50 with a 16 fight Hector Garcia before hurting him with a punch to the back of the head, both opponents retire on their stool. Look at the hype after those fights. People acted like the Loma fight was just Walters being trash, then after the Tank fight you had people saying that Tank punches so hard his opponents can’t see (despite his punches throughout that fight seemingly having no effect on Garcia). I feel like boxing fans are gaslighting me with the way they talk about Loma and Tank.

You just talking to be talking because anybody with a decent boxing IQ can recognize the skillset that Haney possesses. His skills are very much on par with Loma's and that fact will be made manifest when they fight.

No I’m asking you, what specific skills? I’d say he has an above average jab, that’s all I can think of. I can think of about 10 attributes where Loma is well above average. I’m genuinely curious, it sounds like a bizarre claim to say that Haney has skills on par with Loma.

    About Loma?
Footwork for maintaining and closing range, feints, variation of tempo of punches, disguising punches, punching out of clinches, body punching, lateral movement, combination punching, ring-iq, defense with parrying and head movement.
That has to be at least ten, now tell me what Haney has other than an above average jab and size?

Come on man, you just hating. Martinez was a straight up punching bag and no where near the fighter Santa Cruz was on his worst day.
Haney do all that and just as well. You know that. Loma got two moves that he makes. One is when he reverses direction and the other is when he is backed up, he comes right back at his opponent. He's got a good overhand left but Haney got a good overhand right. Plus Haney can curb that right hand or throw it straight through. They both move side to side. Haney got a better jab and he hooks off his jab. Loma don't. Loma got a good hook to the body but so does Haney. Loma can adjust but so can Haney. They both throw combos. Haney is physically quicker than Loma and they both have excellent ring IQ. Haney knows how to fight tall and use that uppercut in the right way and and at the right time. The best thing that Loma had going for him was that fighters feared the hype. That is a dead issue now. That's why Teo beat him ( because he wasn't afraid to fight) Haney ain't never been scared. Haney's biggest fear was that he didn't trust his ability to take a good shot. He is over that as witnessed by the second Kambozo's fight. What Haney does best, gives him an edge over what Loma does best.

Loma is not underrated, he's overrated, He is a very good fighter but that's it. He was a great amateur but he has only 19 professional fights and he lost two of those, plus his last fight could have went either way. People whine about him being too small for 135 but the man is 5'7" on a frame that can easily carry 135lbs. I am not buying that yak. It was a time when I would have favored him over Davis but that was when Davis was a boy. This Tank right here would knock Loma clean out and it wouldn't take long. He is just too fast, too physical and hits too hard. Plus he can box. They got one common opponent, Look at the results. I can't speak for anyone but I myself when I say that it's strictly about the skills when talking boxing. Boxing has it's own ethnicity and it's called Skills. Anybody can possess them no matter who they are. They speak for themselves.

None of these men are giants. I'm as big as all of them, if not bigger, and I'm a small man.

Loma is not physically strong. He's not physically extremely tough. He's not exceptionally fast. He doesn't have an extremely high workrate. And he's so far, shown an unwillingness to go full Margarito/Gatti and win through sheer force of will and badassery. So, he's left to rely completely on technical skill. Hard to do that in pro boxing. At a certain point, the ability to punch hard, fast, and throw lots of hard, fast punches matters.

Oh, so you don’t know a thing about boxing. Never mind. A faded Santa Cruz brought up the weight divisions to get knocked out by Tank was a better win/knockout than a legitimate champion in the first fight at a higher weight division. Right….

Common opponent Pedraza? Yeah, Lomachenko beat up the version that wasn’t drained, the knockdown in the 11th or whatever was identical to the knockdown where the ref stopped the fight in the Tank drained version. Lomachenko’s win over Pedraza was absolutely more dominant and impressive than Tanks. Tank was losing rounds against a drained shell of a fighter.
You keep talking about the skills of guys like Haney and Davis yet you seemingly don’t know anything about boxing, and you can’t even see an illegal punch despite watching a fight six times according to you. For some reason you don’t understand that Lomachenko was fighting world class competition from the get go, those two losses are highly disputed, and he has a far superior record to guys like Tank or Haney. You’re not serious, I’m done with you.

Ha Ha, you full of excuses ain't you. Pedraza had the title. If he was weight drained, then so was Davis. They both moved up. I keep talking about the skills of Davis and Haney because they are real. Davis 29/0,27 knockouts, Haney 29/0, 15 knockouts, Loma, 19/2, 11 knockouts. OOPS there it is. What world class champions was Loma fighting? lol, The best fighter he fought at the time he fought him was GRJ. Everybody else was too small, like Rigondoux (small and old ) or Marriaga. The others were just ok fighters, some happened to have a belt which in this day and age don't mean much. You saying that his two losses were disputed, well his last win was disputed as well. Now, you here telling me that I am not serious because I'm not buying that yak you spitting out. GTFOH.

Yeah, normally you can say age, especially in the lower weights, can factor in a match up like Loma, Haney. This logic may not apply to Loma just yet. He is truely a special fighter and he may be that guy that continues fighting at a very high level late into his 30's. I still favor Loma over Haney at this time. A win over Loma would really jump Haney's status, especially if Loma is fighting at 100% when he beat him.
