he’ll do better than expected against an unmotivated Beterbiev, even winning a couple of early rounds, before a mercy stoppage late. then he’ll be given the Brave British Loser treatment like Bentley v Janibek, Zelfa v Rakhimov, Richards v Bivol…he won the story of the fight lads! he’s almost world level!
Don't think Yarde wins but really hope he does. Although not sure I'd be able to bear Tunde if he does.
When Beterbiev said "I try to be fast for you. Believe me. Be ready." I took those words as cryptic and I think he's going to be looking for an early KO if the opportunity is there - he isn't a dummy afterall - in order to prove a point. Eddie Hearn cannot hide Bivol forever.
If Yarde outboxes Beterbiev to a points decision it would be a bigger upset than AJ Ruiz (hard to say this now but go look back, everyone was taking the **** out the match when Ruiz stepped in as a short notice replacement and he wasn't given a prayer) For someone like Yarde, his best and only shot is to go looking for an early KO & I give him a small chance...you have to with someone who carries as much power as he does.
No matter the outcome I do think he's brave fighting a fighter that good. And going to Russia must have tested the nerves. I'll always back the Brit but think Bivol is just so good. I ask the same question every time so sorry but does anyone know how much Yarde will be paid? I mean before he gives Tunde half!
Sorry me being a moron I did mean Beterbiev mate. Shows my brilliant knowledge for names shining through. I'm the Bobby Robson of remembering names.
I will never ever understand Yarde's career and match making it's been dire. Chucked in at the deep end after feasting on low tier opposition all his career and where he managed to add another loss to his record. See nothing else other a one sided beat down here. Yarde will land and maybe land big but I just don't see his gas tank lasting at any kind of pace and at that point hes going to sleep. Would be a huge upset.
If Yarde wins this I don' think it's possible to overstate how big of an upset and how great of a win it would be! It will be up there as one of the best by a British fighter. Yarde started fighting in his late teens, never had a proper amateur career, fought journeymen for virtually all of his pro career, and his best win is arguably Lyndon Arthur- a very ordinary, limited fighter well short of world level. I do give him a chance though, he has the power, the home advantage and Beterbiev will get beat one day... Yarde is harder to hit than Joe Smith Jnr, he's not as compact as Beterbiev but he can cover up pretty well and can be defensively astute when he needs to be. He does need to land something big in the first 3-4 rounds though, and does need to make an impression. He has to deter the mentally and physically draining pressure of Beterbiev coming at him 24/7,cutting the ring of and waking him down. The question is can be do that, and do it well before he has a) taken too much punishment in the first third of the fight and b) before he has emptied too much of the tank assuming Beterbiev has been hurt and Yarde is still in it.
He's been thrown in with cans beat them and then goes in against Kovalev. Has no idea how to pace himself and gets KO'd with a jab. Tried to rebuild against one of the few decent fighters to face he looses, wins the rematch fine, but now in against one the best in any division. He's had no seasoning. No real development fights. He's feasted on undersized and under powered fighters. IF its just about low risk high reward then he's not done so badly I guess but through the lens of being a successful fighter - he's not done much to warrant these title shots.
