    He never clinched!

Trust me on that or take a look at moments when he was hurt/tired/whatever. Pou'ha almost killed him, he'd rather bite his neck than hold. Same with Bowe in rd 3 od their second fight. Lewis, Grant, Brewster...

He just refused to do it as if it was an unmanly/dishonourable tactic to employ. There's something very clean about that.

It might have been a part of the problem with his head, but I believe it costed him a lot, who knows how much, how mamy fights even.

Can't recall any other fighter like that.

    It's OK to clinch.

Well… he took the slightly more potent routes and just cracked guys in their nuts and bit them on occasion. Lol :D He probably just viewed holding as wasting time or delaying the outcome.

Andrew was dirty but the guy was funny at the same time.

Coach: “Andrew what are you doing?!! Why did you bite the guy??!!”

Andrew: “Because I had to bite the mother ****er”

Ok… Fair enough I guess!

He was frustrating as hell I’m sure to his coaches! I mean he wasn’t doing that bad against Tyson and started to find his rhythm before just clocking out early! Who knows he might have wore Tyson down late and pulled off a McBride! Lol

Ken Norton should have learned how to clinch. As strong as he was he could have been proficient at it

I never understood why he didn't try to clinch when Big George was pummeling him.

Maybe he simply wasn’t smart enough or well drilled enough to clinch.

I don’t think nut punches require much in the way of skill or thinking. Just let ‘em rip.

Now Evander, he could head butt then nut punch in a heart beat, the ol’ 1-2. That’s skill!

Golota sure did not do much in that Adamek fight, did he? The ballgame was over for him after that, if not before. be that as it may, nice under rated performance by Adamek--now there is an underrated guy--moreso than Golata.

Let me ask, if clinching can be exhausting for the person being clinched and being hit in the nuts is gut wrenching...would you rather be clinched 10 times or a solid on the spot hit to the nuts from Golota?

Now that I think of it, I can't recall him clinching either.

Surely not that. He was never lacking in the skill department. He was/is no fool either, just quite severely handicapped emotionally - probably suffering from some sort of PTSD.

Nut punches were just pure desperation on his part I think. I actually think he wouldn't clinch because he found it unmanly, unlilke "street" moves like a nutcrack, a bite or a headbutt.

Oh, he was done by the time he fought Adamek. Lost almost all his speed and mobility, his jab was quite harmless as he damaged his left hand in an accident.

That fight says nothing about Adamek, he was heavily criticized in Poland for even taking it.

How many times did he use low blows outside of Bowe fights? Can you recall ANY?

Clinching is something you can use to catch a break/nullify the opponent's attacks pretty much any time without consequences. I think you don't tire out nearly as quickly if you do it. I believe it would possibly save him some fights, possibly in any from Bowe to Brewster, although probably not in the Lewis fight.

Like it or not, clinching is in fact allowed...to a degree - and certainly not considered dishonorable or unmanly.

The gray area is the arbitrary degree to which it is allowed - and allowance of same can vary from one referee to another.

What's allowed in a street fight isn't confined to specific, allowable moves - like headbutts, bites or speed punching the other guy's ball bag.

Those moves clearly reflect that it's anything goes in a street fight - and certainly you will see plenty of grappling in a street fight, along with hair pulling, kicks etc.

Watch Leonard vs Hearns 2 and listen to the commentators rightfully applaud Hearns for doing what he failed to do in the first fight with Ray - and that is Tommy holding/clinching when Ray had him hurt.
