Honestly I think CEJ is cooked. Everything he did was based around being able to take a shot if his game plan came up short. That was his USP. But it's been cracked now and will crack again more easily. Funny that his career somewhat mirrors Roy's albeit at a much, much, much lower level. Namely, gravy train until the chin is checked. We know how this story ends if he boxes on...

Groves is a much bigger guy and puncher than Smith and he did drop CEJ arguably twice in that one albeit the ref chose not to count them as KDs. But Groves was catching him with single shots IIRC whereas Smith caught him with a combination of big accurate ones as he was bobbing and weaving which to be fair was impressive by Smith and showed his ring IQ, craft and accuracy.

Domestic level is nothing to be ashamed of. He's incredibly athletic and has shown a good chin in the past. The shots you don't see cliché` though. No shame in losing to a genuine world level fighter like Liam "Beefy" Smith.

That would be an interesting fight. Smith seems to even better at 160lbs and brings more power at the new weight and his confidence is over the moon now. I never saw him stopping Eubank, especially after the success Eubank was having in rounds 2 and 3. That being said GGG is more defensibly responsible and a great old boxer that has slowed down alot recently.

I don’t know whether you remember as it was many years ago but I predicted Groves to beat CEJ the manner in which he did but in this match up stylistically Smith is actually made to order for CEJ which makes the way it played out strange to say the least. However congratulations to the Scouser it was his night but I would be curious about a rematch to see if we get a different result.

I always struggle to understand that Liam Smith is only 34. That grey hair makes my brain think I’m watching a man in his 50s.

Yeah , what did you say? ...

Eubank is going to punish Smith and there's nothing you can do about it.

I did wonder at the weigh in whether CEJ was dead at the weight!

It's going to be a hard for him to bounce back from a loss like that. My gut feeling all along was Conor was going to KO him believe it or not and I think he may well have if didn't get caught, hurt and stopped himself in the first few rounds.

Exactly. It defo mirrors Roy's career. To be fair, I do suspect Roy will be remembered by most as the better fighter if the two though

What the hell was Chris doing before he hooked up with Roy, beating a useless Degale who had been beaten by a bum by then?

What else could he do? Anything else would have been much worse for his reputation.
