DKP actively putting on fight shows in the year 2023...you hate to see it. :shakehead:

So, if you Google the name of the promoter Don King, along with the word "buff" and the letters "sx", you turn up some interesting results. :D

This is old school ESB. IB covering a dreadful heavyweight affair just because it's only boxing available.

"Trigger" Wiggins is the southpaw in grey-blue with silver-white trim, and the defending North American Boxing Association 147lb champ.

For the most part it's been him lackadaisically outboxing and outworking "Nasty" Nigel Fennell, the orthodox fighter in black with red fringe and bright pinkish-orange shoes. The pattern has been Fennell pumping a jab while Wiggins goes into a wide-based sprawl and answers with right jabs, mostly on the body, lathering his way up to with shoeshines to the chin, looking to hit paydirt with a straight line-drive left. In the 5th, one of those scored flush for Wiggins and badly hurt Fennell, but Wiggins failed to capitalize on it and the sort of one-gear sparring feel has resumed since.

This hasn't been a great watch. Both guys are cagey, risk-averse, twitchy, and neither is displaying very much accuracy or killer instinct with the few shots they are stepping in and committing to.

...but then, it serves me right for tuning in to a Don King production any earlier than needed to examine the marquee train wreck.

Not that there's been a ton of stiff competition today, but the fight between Ian Green and Alexander Castro was genuinely the most entertaining fight I saw all day.

Trigger comes in 14-5-3 and his challenger Nasty with a record of 13-1, both of them with 8 kayo victories...and they are ranked #28 and #51 respectively among United States welterweights (of 399 active) on BoxRec.

For anybody not watching...they're putting on exactly the level of affair you'd expect from the above sentence.

Ring announcer instructs the crowd to give both combatants a round of applause, then sort of falters where you would typically hype up a reason why, and settles on "...for, uh, ten rounds in the books!" and is met with almost total silence, one guy very clearly whistling and clapping ironically.
