He was great with a unique style, but trying to teach it to other fighters not as talented might not be good for them. Maybe Eubank should have tried developing a Mike McCallum like style. Jones could be good council for him, being an experienced KO victim though.

 

Anyone notice that once Eubank stopped holding he got stopped? He was holding too much prior to that.

I re-watched the whole thing. Outside of a few decent jabs & uppercuts CEJ looked like crap. He stayed at the ropes or corners, left hand down, tried to uppercut from way outside, footwork was not great, was off balance after shots. Smith beat him just by using solid basics such as dipping & protecting behind a high guard and throwing combos when he had him pinned.

As far as the rematch, CEJ could move more and keep his hands higher but what is ingrained in him now will get him beat again. Smith's educated pressure and solid skills will get him cornered again at some point. CEJ needs an overhaul. He was supposed to be the stronger, faster, more chiseled guy but had no legs when clocked. So much for physiques.

 

The thing with Eubank is he's never been original and always tried to imitate somebody else rather than focusing on his own journey and the fundamentals of boxing.. he started off trying to imitate his dad and ended his career trying to imitate Roy Jones.. but he doesn't have half the amount of talent either of them had.. I would call it a day now if I were him, he doesn't have it .. he keeps getting exposed and he's not a likeable character either.. his career has been one of the easiest routes as well , when you look at the amount of money and fame he has for what he actually achieved in the sport hes been very fortunate, call it a day mate.. you're just not very good, although I respect everyone who gets in a ring you've just got to be honest about things.. focus on helping your dad who's obviously in a very bad place, he's been having bizarre interviews again lately

He was never taught good fundamentals and just got by with hand speed, Jones is teaching him a few good things but he just doesn`t have it, he doesn`t look natural in there.
