Not the way I did it but very efficient! I went through Johnson to Willard to Dempsey to Tunney to Walker to Young Corbett III to Fred Apostoli to Tony Zale to Graziano to Robinson to Bobo Olson to Fullmer to Griffith to Napoles
So from John L Sullivan to Napolese and Napolese to one of the two current HW Top men: Napolese - Tyson Fury. I did this without boxrec. It’s pretty straightforward tbh.
Jose Napoles - Carlos Monzon - Bennie Briscoe - Marvin Hagler - Mustapha Hamsho - Bobby Czyz - Evander Holyfield - John Ruiz - David Haye - Dereck Chisora - Tyson Fury I'm guessing there's a quicker way, but I'm playing without boxrec - so that's the best I can do. One from me - I'm going to introduce smaller man here to the challange: Ricardo "Finito" Lopez to Jerry Quarry
Well done. I did it partly a different way, but partly the same… Napolese…John H Stracy…Dave Boy Green…SRL…Duran…Barkley…Berbick…Tyson…Holy…Ruiz…Haye…Chisora…Fury And yours was way quicker haha!
Lopez to Quarry! I gotta admit that one is stumping me. I know of Lopez…a top top little guy. One of the invincibles, retired unbeaten but how we get to Quarry from him, you got me stumped. But I’ll work on it…
Hah, good luck - I had to think about it myself after writing it. I found a path, but there's 18 fighters inbetween. I'm guessing issue may be "moving up" through the weights from strawweight to heavyweight, as some people don't follow the lower weights. I'm sure some of the big heads in here can do it though!
You guys rock - very enjoyable read. Now, I don’t have the answer to this and I’m not going to try (tbh, too lazy) - but I remember reading a similar such degrees of separation exercise in a boxing mag. - which used the a beat b who beat c..etc., method to “deduce” Flyweight Pone Kingpetch having the “paper” advantage over Sonny Liston. Obviously this method requires the preceding fighter not to have just fought the next guy in the chain - but to have also beaten him. Have at it learned folks!!
I thought I had it but lost the order of my names and ended up right back where I started! I was poring over boxrec like I was studying for my exams. Bits of paper all over the place, cigar smoke filling the room…and I don’t even smoke which is quite worrying!! I think the butler did it. Jeez, I’m mixing up my mysteries now. I think I better take a break….
Sorry for clogging up the topic, hah. Anyway, here's the answer, at least the one I came up with. There's probably a quicker path. Ricardo Lopez - Rosendo Alvarez - Tomas Rojas - Vic Darchinyan - Nicholas Walters - Vasyl Lomachenko - Orlando Salido - Juan Manuel Marquez - Floyd Mayweather - Canelo Alvarez - Sergey Kovalev - Bernard Hopkins - Roy Jones (Here the move to HW is completed) - John Ruiz - Evander Holyfield - Larry Holmes - Muhammad Ali - Jerry Quarry.
Nice one! Nicely done. What I’ve noticed on many occasions about the path from small weights to HW, a few of the regular connections that crop up include famous weight jumpers such as Duran, RJJ, James Toney and Barkley. Find a way to any one of them and the path to established HWs becomes that bit easier.
Indeed! I think that @Pugguy variation, where You need to create connection not only through two fighters fighting each other, but A beating B, who beat C, who beat D, who beat E etc. - would be more challanging.
