He doesn't. Floyd either runs like a stallion with diarrhea losing a lopsided decision due to a low punch output, or loses points for excessive holding after getting clipped by strong right hands and goes into his shell the whole fight.

I don't think Mayweather would step foot in a ring with Hearns, but if he did, it's not going to be some blowout where Tommy knocks him out in 2. Mayweather is a legit ATG, and nobody has an easy fight against him.

It kind of sucks he hurt his own legacy through his dodging/fight selection, because he was a great fighter.

Worst style matchup for Floyd at welterweight!

I don’t even know who you expect him to have fought. Williams lost one month after Mayweather beat Hatton, won the rematch, and went middle. Mayweather temporarily retired.

Mayweather never was a runner. Mosley is the only guy who clipped Mayweather and he responded by walking down Mosley before the round ended and didn’t stop for the rest of the fight. You underestimate the dog in Mayweather. He just kept it mostly confined to sparring.

One obvious one is Pac (much earlier than it happened).

He fought him while he was 38 years old and Pacquiao was pfp number 1 not counting himself. Any unbiased person would know that it’s harder to win a big fight at 38 than in your physical prime.

If he doesn't run and pursues Hearns after getting hurt, he gets brutally knocked out.

By brutalizing his body from long range. Then when Floyd gasses and drops his hands, Hearns opens up on him

I think the most interesting wrinkle of this fight would be Tommy punching down so far against a guy who is good at picking off range. Floyd would probably pick Tommy's single shots, but Tommy would start opening up and probably damage him bad and stop him. Floyd is an all time fighter who was best around lightweight, how about we drain Tommy down to 141.5? Then who wins?

Feints, counters, footwork, lead rights and jabs to the body…the reasons why nobody ever came close to controlling him with a jab.
