As far as strength, speed, durability etc I believe Rock was...also while I do think Maskaev was technically better (as he should be) that was more of Rock not having much of a punch selection, but did have IMO a superior jab and overhand. Rock was kinda the exact type of big guy (other than Tua) that put Maskaev down............yet he couldn't in two tries.
Yeah, ultimately you're right, it is one of those weird cases of somebody just having an adversary's #. Rahman's own power wasn't other-wordly, just solid, but should have still been enough to short-circuit the glass cannon that Olly always was if he so much as nicked him clean with a power shot. And he did, but...for some reason...
Don't see how it is worth arguing about anyhow. Doesn't change who won, doesn't change anything about their pro careers, which are what really matters.
True, although I'm sure it matters on a personal level to both men as a matter of honor. (especially since they both went on the record repeating their stories so often)
This is the last guy I can recall that was cut from that same cloth: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...he-new-best-active-p4p-chin-in-boxing.628392/ Dude would beat a prospect, or even a few in a row, and every time he would gamble that momentum taking a fight as the B-side and heavy underdog and then incur multiple losses but acquitted himself well every time.
