New to exploring the classic side of boxing, I'm aware of the 4 kings era and the Ferocious 4 (Limon, Boza Edwards, Chacon, and Navarette), but are there any of other similar groupings in boxing history, particularly below heavyweight?

Ross, McLarnin and Canzernori were a trio of ATG's who all fought each other.

The black murders row, guys like Burley, Williams, Bivins, Marshall, Wade, Chase, Cocoa Kid and Lytell, are the other obvious set that immediately spring to mind.

McFarland gave Moran a boxing lesson .. then Moran got the title shot against Wolgast not Packey.... Nobody wanted to fight McFarland .. including Battling Nelson ... Ad KO's Moran , then signs to fight Packey in 2 months ... Fight gets cancelled in the 11th hour .. City officials shut it down .... funny you should mention them ( Ketchel Papke fought for the MW title in Wisconsin 2 years prior) go figure... McFarland never gets a US title shot again after that

Packey would kick all their asses back then at LW .. damn great as a WW as well .. lol

    Stay Safe Buddy !!!

Casamayor, Castillo, Corrales, and Freitas. Freitas and Castillo didnt fight, but neither did Hagler and Benitez.

    Morales, Barerra, Marquez, Pacquiao.

    Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, Mosley.

The 1910s had a who's who of heavyweights in Johnson, Langford, Jeannette and McVey.

Just for future reference the 4 Kings are Hagler, Leonard, Hearns and Duran.

It will obviously come as news to you but Benitez wasn't part of it ;)

It can’t feel good to get schooled by a guy who can’t count.

Still waiting on the Mena excuse.

Ali Frazier Foreman and Holmes for sure or replace Holmes w Norton. Or add him.

maybe the crazy LHW scene in the 40s
Charles, Moore, Bivins, Maxim I think are comparable n all in HOF.

they just don’t have a cool name like the 4 kings

Ezzard Charles/Archie Moore/Jimmy Bivins/Charlie Burley are a pretty decent bunch and you can also tag Marshall and Smith on there as well.

You can also make a solid group dropping Burley and adding Joey Maxim. You can even keep Marshall in to make it 5.
