How can you be addicted to an internet boxing forum with about 100 users and 1000 alts?

    Fair question.

    But that's just British tbf.

I have been pretty disturbed by the alts. One guy had six.

Hmm. The poster who’s most guilty of this frequently derails threads by randomly bringing Deontay Wilder’s ‘resume’ into discussion where it has no relevance.

It’s just as worthy of moderation as your point about ‘anti-AJ/Matchroom’ posts derailing threads.

Bit of a pointless post tbh.

Just as pointless as Wilders 2015 title defence against Duphanas.

But in all seriousness it should be equal in terms of keeping threads on point. I do however think it is a bigger percebtage of people who just brong up matchroom or AJ.

and this reply summarises my concern about this thread.

I appreciate the general idea, but the British forum needs understanding of the posters for such new rules to be implemented appropriately.

This isn’t a criticism of you per se, but if you were familiar with this forum and the users - you’d know exactly who I’m talking about and why it’s an issue. Implementation of these rules needs nuance and understanding.

Yeah ok, and I accept that you're not criticising me directly. A couple of things.

First, here I am. I have been posting here for days and making the effort.

Despite this, your post underlines my concerns. I've asked you for a little help and instead of helping you want to take the opportunity to complain (albeit politely). This is a recurring theme here and you can see it in this thread outwith your post - people seem absolutely determined to take a fierce tally of moderator conduct without looking at their own conduct or even the conduct of their fellow posters. You don't have to help, that's up to you, but try not to hinder.

No coincidence the forum has been more chilled since beatdownz aka Brixton bomber aka Tony hayers aka mitchroom87 aka twentyman was taken out. Good work mods.

It's not complaining really, it's discussing the new policies. You have to be prepared for them to get a bit of scrutiny otherwise it just won't work.

It is helping you through discussing something you're proposing, and giving you feedback on it based on my experience using this forum. People giving their thoughts on the policies isn't anything personal against you or other mods necessarily, but you do seem to be taking it personally for some reason.

What I can see is you starting a thread a few days ago, which was a good step. Lots of people mentioned alt accounts as an issue on the forum.. the response in this thread is essentially a rule of "don't complain about alt accounts". That doesn't seem a very productive response to people's input on the other thread you made.

My advice would be to work with us on this sub forum, and be open to responses which aren't in full agreement on the new rule ideas.

Yeah, definitely, that's why we had that vote and then this thread.

I disagree that your post was helpful.

That's untrue. The response in this thread is if you say you know someone is an alt, but the software doesn't deliver an alt, i'm not going to take your word for it and ban that person. Obviously that would be insane.

However, I have banned 15-20 alts this week if that makes you happier.

    Me too.

If they don't, we will think again, if it makes things worse and not better or if it doesn't make any real difference despite the effort we'll have another think. I'm unsure the timeframe needed to provide a decent sample but i'm reckoning maybe end of February?
