Chin? I see no reason to believe Young wouldn't have fallen victim to Foreman if he got hit with the same punches Frazier did. Foreman landed his most solid and flush punches ever against Frazier, and tbh I highly doubt Young would get up 6 times if hit like that.

Well In order for that to happen we’d actually have to see it and part of the reason we didn’t is because young had the right style for beating Foreman. Young also took some direct shots from Shavers and survived their rematch along with Lyle, Page, Simms and a myriad of guys who could punch

Well we don't know if Young took any direct shots from Shavers because we haven't seen their bouts. We do know he was dropped multiple times across both of their bouts. He didn't take any flush shots from Lyle except for one round (the only round Lyle won in two bouts) and he was in ***** street.

Young was in grave danger of being stopped against a mentally inferior Foreman who didn't hit as hard as he did pre-Zaire (because of a change in body mechanics that Clancy thought would serve him better). Pre-Zaire Foreman would've finished him right then and there. He's certainly not getting up six times like Frazier did imo.

Young stated that shavers was the hardest puncher he ever faced so I think that’s enough to say he took some direct shots from him. He also told An interviewer years ago that Foreman at one point had him out on his feet so there’s that. Then later in his career after losing most of his speed and elusiveness he was there to be hit by guys like tucker, Page, simms, fulilangi etc…. Only two times he was ever stopped was in his 11th pro fight against shavers and a cut stoppage against Cooney. Bottom line is Young was pretty goddamn durable even if he wasn’t ALWAYS a sitting duck like Joe was against Foreman

Last year, he ran smack into the hard hitting ron Lyle, so i would say no.

I think that's it, Joe is simply tailor made for Foreman. It's like ," what version of Liston could Floyd Patterson beat?

Even though Foreman lost to Young, jimmy was Jimmy, the defensive expert who Ali found untouchable

While Joe was Frazier the one handed fighter up against a bigger, more complete fighter

Frazier has never been able to give George a fight

    that's interesting

Now that you bring it up, I think Floyd had a good chance at this time. Sonny was a relic while Floyd had proved to be the better of several top fighters including Quarry and Ellis, who I thought Floyd had actually got the better of

Floyd has more than a chance against the Liston who fought Martin. He was quite literally a shell of himself.

I actually think this would be a better and easier fight for Foreman than Jimmy Young. Frazier would be badly faded by this point and Foreman had enough tread left on the tires to chop a few logs and resume the KO campaign in the late 80s. I've seen a few hypotheticals stretched to see where Frazier could pluck Foreman and it has to be earlier, doesn't it? Because the later you go, the more dubious it gets for Frazier. You can say Foreman had a head case moment after and didn't look great vs. Young but I still can't see Frazier doing it in 1977. If I were Foreman's manager and Frazier's team wanted this fight in 1977 I would jump. There would be no need for a cut hypothetical because if Frazier were available I would book it post haste.

This is FOTC Frazier not a hypothetical '77 Frazier.

I see, thanks for clarifying. I didn't notice. The other one was FOTC Frazier vs. recently turned pro Foreman and I had it for Foreman still, so I guess that answers this.

Recently turned pro foreman ? You mean the foreman who was still learning, with sonny Liston's help, the tactics that he would use years later to beat joe frazier ?
