This, I don't even like Joe Smith, but I think he's a few notches above Yarde.

Yarde isn't great. Technically he is pretty average and his power is overrated because he knocked out domestic / european fighters. Joe Smith Jr would brutally stop him.

I think Yarde would win most round but get careless and get clipped by Smith Jr.

But that fight probably won't happen anyway. Anyone knows what's up with Smith Jr?

'four who would probably beat Yarde.'

RECORD CAPPING is not valid. Fact Hasim Rahman beat Lennox Lewis when he got koed by David Tua and Oleg Maskaev.

How many people here would have said Rahman could not beat Lennox no way? Joe Smith in 2023 is a shot fighter, Anthony Yarde in 2023 is sharp, powerful, and aggressive. He pulls the trigger a lot better than Smith, weaves his head back when anticipating punches. People overlook his defense because his big muscles and style, but he is a good defensive boxer. He would ko Smith at this point in his career.

I lost money betting on Kovalev to beat Canelo.

Besides having the style advantage (imo), and the size advantage, I watched the Yarde fight.... and I asked myself, if Yarde couldnt beat even this old Kova, how will Canelo. Could Canelo even beat Yarde?

So I confidently placed like $2,000 on Kovalev to beat Canelo

But the point here is, at the end of the day, Yarde couldnt beat a faded and ready for the taking Kovalev, and worse, he couldnt even last the distance with him.

Theres simply no way I cant take that into consideration when evaluating Yarde as a fighter, despite his in ring work passing the eye test.

How much has he improved since Kova, this weekend will tell us a lot.

But should he lose, Yarde vs Smith would be a great fight to make for late 2023.

Was Kov underdog at least? Was it a value bet?

Tbh that's not a bad bet, I also thought Kovalev would win. Didn't realize how hesitant he was going to be.
