No need to be embarassed. "Youtube" boxing is often more entertaining, like Aeson Gib vs that Austin Broom guy. Classic Boxing is becoming a duckfest to see who can duck who the most.
Let me preface this by saying I actually havent watched much of Fury, nor will I lol. This post is going off of the little I have seen though. I was preferring to see Jake continue knock out MMA guys but I suppose that well has run dry. I guess this was the logical next step but I expect this to be a pretty undynamic affair between two relatively mediocre fighters that leave the public scratching their heads as to why they tuned it to this. You can create hype around a mediocre fighter that has a little power (Jake) by matching him with overmatched opponents he can knock out. But the excitement quickly fizzles when he fights someone near his level, and the rudimentary level of ability begins to dampen the fights they partake in. I expect this to be the case against Fury. Fury may or may not be slightly more skilled than Jake, but it will be interesting to see if he has the chin and fortitude to withstand Jakes overrated but not valueless power. When Jake lands his right hand, if it rattles Fury then this becomes an 'interesting' fight. If Tommy smiles at it and takes it fine, I expect him to edge Jake in a very competitive and probably controversial decision fight where neither guy is good enough to stamp the fight, and their lack of quality actually hurts their hype going forward. Hope Im wrong though and that Jake knocks Fury out or wins impressively.
Tommy basically quit boxing when he hit the roids at the end of his amateur career wanting to be a big boy but he's not a real big boy and knows the real talent would give him a hiding hence wandering in a model career and doing better in that. However despite being a British level dabbler he still has more than enough to make Jake Paul SWEAT...and as you described that is what will happen. Jake Paul will be surprised (or probably not he's not dumb) by all the subtle stuff that dirty casuals can't see. Little fients, timing and even physicality despite Tommy being a roided up smaller man. The best part of this fight is I suspect it will be used as a Fury Usyk promotion event And this is why Tyson Fury is taking over boxing. Not Eddie Hearn because the Fury's find the money. Even though they got banned from America funnily enough it's the Saudi's and youtube freaks that are where the moolah is...and they are smartly right on that bandwagon. T.Fury from the outset never knocked the youtubers he could see it for what it was and respects the hustle and now they will be rewarded for it. Usyk will get his retirement paydays and then Fury will get one sideshow Nnangou fight which will scatter all the boxing belts to the highest bidder as usual (bodybuilder& basketball man)
Imagine if Tommy bottles it again and pulls out for the third time. Only this time he does so the week of the fight and it leaves them with only days to find a replacement But then big bro Tyson offers to step in for Tommy and the WBC give the go ahead to him to defend his HW belt against Jake Now imagine Jake actually beat him and became the WBC HW champion of the world in just his 7th fight? Wowzers! That would be huge.
If it lands flush, yes it it does. If featherfist Steve Cunningham can drop Fury flat on his back with a solitary right hand a flush Jake right hand bomb might literally kill him Cunningham couldn't even drop a glass-jawed MMA fighter who had been stopped something like 10 times or something Jake has sparked out two MMA fighters and he dropped the other one And he bashed up MMA fighter Platinum Mike Perry in the gym
If the Fury’s have a good game plan Tommy can win this. I think the mistake most these MMA guys have made is thinking they will just walk in and KO Jake Paul with the first power shot they land. If Fury adapts the strategy of using his jab and basic one two he could easily out box Paul and win a decision.
This is like his 3rd or 4th PPV, so yes... obviously. He clearly has a ton of numbnut followers from YouTube who are willing to pay money to watch him do virtually anything.
This seems like an odd question for 2023. We are multiple fights deep into celebrity boxing being on ppv. These two have hundreds of thousands of followers that actively consume their content, I wager they will be able to get 100k of them or so to hand over money for the fight.
I'll pay $50 PPV just to see the Fury Usyk promotion at this event They'll probably put them in sumo gear and pit Usyk & Nnganou against Fury during the round breaks. Fury will obvoisly just grab each of them with one arm and manhandle them. They should have an inflatable Dana White in the ring also for the MMA boys to beat on whilst getting their paychecks. Bob Arum will be ringside looking through his iphone at pictures of Ali Frazier back in the day then slump over finally deciding to call it a day after briefly looking up at some youtuber zoomer doing a stupid dance after pretending he can fight.
Yeah i feel Fury has a much longer reach. He's got arms like a gibbon. He could just keep Paul on the end of a jab all night and earn a scrappy, ugly points win.
