Does anyone else think the reaction to this fight is a bit over top ... it was a good fight but it wasn't a great, one I don't get it... even Steve bunce would be proud of the current slurping of Yarde

Says the Andre Ward fanboy lol if it's intentional then yes it's illegal but if a punch is being thrown and a fighter is turning away from that punch and happens to get hit on the back of the head then it's not a rabbit punch , yarde moves fairly well & is quick & was simply turning away, nothing dodgy about Beterbiev

Given the fight card on the night, and how I figured after Smith that AB would blow Yarde away, it was - relatively speaking - a great surprise, and didn't belong on the same evening of farcical fare!

It had ebb & flow, bombs, tons of heart & some genuine drama - although I suspected that Artur was mostly in control, he did look like he flagged / struggled just a bit in rounds 6 & 7 - but he closed the show well.

Maybe it was as much the pleasant surprise, but I thought it was a cracking contest!

It's Why Britain doesn't produce many great Fighters anymore .. because of reactions like this.. I mean the guys lost three times now, we reward failure .. who cares if he performed well he's supposed to perform well he gets paid millions to do so by promoters and sponsors... in fact in yardes case if you consider the career he has actually had he's been very fortunate and grossly over paid so far... it was a good fight but I take issue with the great fight label by a long way.. the British media and pundits need to get a grip and stop being sycophants, I mean they will be setting up monthly group meetings next for Fighters who lost that month so they can hug it out and talk about their feelings.. you won't match the Russians and ukrainians etc if you just pamper your Fighters all the time and wrap them up in the media hyperbole comfort blanket

Yeah he does hook around and pull back to hit the back of the ear, (Gvozdyk) and you have to factor in the fact he gets away with it when predicting future bouts.

Hes clearly not the same guy. The fighter who demolished Cloud would have beaten Browne, Deines and Yarde inside 5. Yea, you can say Cloud isnt the greatest fighter around, but neither are those other 3 fighters. Hes so obviously near the end.

It'll be by far Yarde's best win if he were to beat Buatsi.

The fact that Beterbiev felt like he needed to invest into the body early to take out Yarde is a massive indicator he is near the end. I understand needing to invest in the body to take the wind out of Gvozdyk's sails. Prime Gvozdyk was a top top fighter. You invest in the body with a fighter of that caliber. But Anthony Freaking Yarde? Prime Beterbiev finishes him whenever he wants to.

Beterbiev better start fighting three times a year if he wants to make much money or really lay down a legacy. He keeps fighting once a year he has about two victory's left in him.

Exactly he himself will probably only bring home 200k of his purse after taxes and fees to his team. Good money for a regular guy, but boxing is a young mans career. You cant do it forever. At 38 he has another 40 plus years to live. If I was him I'd try and stack some money over the next year or two and get out with my health.

Beterbiev doesn't look 38 to me. When he's in a neutral corner, or in between rounds, he is constantly bouncing on his toes. That is one hard working dude. He probably grew up on a farm or something. Boring.. but tough.

He's also constantly praying to Allah. That sort of thing can get you far in life.
