Did Beterbiev's Stock Go Up Or Down For You After The Yarde Fight ?

Down IMO. He's declining but his performances tend to be up and down. He is still a murderous puncher though.

He always pulls it out of the bag however and unless you go looking for him like Joe Smith did, we can expect more of these patchy performances.

 

Same as before.. he did what he does , Yarde was never getting on top either.. his performance is being overplayed

 

Down. He's at the point of his career now where unless you come to him he won't look impressive. A prime Beterbiev would have had little issue with Yarde.

 

Slightly down. Yarde performed better than expected but he was gonna get stopped at some point since Beterbiev was starting to turn up the heat. Beterbiev did what he had to do to finish the job but he still showed his age. I think it showed that Beterbiev is slowing down and that Bivol has a good shot against him.

 

No change. I have him tied for the top position with Bivol. I think Bivol would have dominated and outboxed Yarde much easier than Beterbiev but he got the job done. I look forward to seeing these two fight but it’s not looking like a big $ fight so it’s high risk for both and low reward. Seeing the purse AB got for his efforts last night made me feel bad. Hope it was not correct because he deserves more. He’s one of the most dominant fighters in boxing.

I hope Bivol gets another chance to give Canelo a well deserved beating and takes his belts at 168 before moving back to 175 and fighting AB. Canelo would love nothing more than to duck another L to Bivol. A loss by Bivol to Beterbiev would give Canelo the out he desperately needs.

 

No change for me. Yarde really elevated his game and fought the best fight he could have but Beterbiev again showed what a brute he is, just relentless, even if you can hit him flush repeatedly , even hurt him, it's not enough he'll still walk you down, break you down and then put you down.

 

For me it went up. I don't consider Yarde great but he came to fight and he can punch and fought hard.

Beterbiev showed he is not a front runner, that he can trade on equal terms and still be devastating.

I.was most impressed with how he reacts to being hit. Compare that to the Klitschko brothers, 2 all time greats, but you could always see them get flustered when someone came at them hard ...
Beterbiev seems to get even more dangerous once he gets tagged.

Unfortunately for Beterbiev, he's an older fighter in a division that lacks stars ....what big fights is out there for him besides bivol?

People just was not expecting much from Yarde and suddenly he gave Beterbiev hell, which in reality it was not like that.

 

No change really. Everyone knows Yarde can bang, but ultimately he couldn't keep Beterbiev away from him.

 

Why would it go down? Regardless of scorecards, I definitely thought Beterbiev controlled most of the fight, forced his fight, forced his will on Yarde and got rid of him. He even showed some movement to pull Yarde to him.

 

I think the same, Beterbiev didn't look any different to me. He boxes well has a good jab and comes straight forward. He also has his head always on line and has been able to get away with that ,though Yarde made him pay a few times. He's a very strong fighter and mentally tough but he's not all time great 175 pound material. Certainly not top 10, maybe 15.

 

It depends what you mean.

Has the Yarde fight made me think I need to reassess how I've evaluated AB throughout his career? No.

Do I think Yarde's competitness is likely partially explicable by fighting a 38 year old who is on a slide away from his physical prime? Yes.
