    Looking at Matthew Saad Muhammad's record I noticed he fought Lopez 1, Conteh 1, Johnson 2, one after the other. They were all pretty memorable title fights that he won, I remember Muhammad got hit alot in these fights and they went 8 rounds, 11 rounds, 15 rounds, now theres no stats but I would gather he was hit more than 689 times overall.

    Exactly. Even the actually old Donaire (not the 36yo one people call ancient) would be favored massively against Roman right now. I mean realistically, people aren't going to like it, but you'd have to favor McDonell over Fulton, and that isn't even a top 5 Inoue win.

    Ceja=Fulton=Fig<McDonnell

    Most media outlets had Ceja beating Fig and considered the draw a gift. McDonnell took Ceja to school.

    Inoue KOd McDonnell in one, as we all know.

    McDonell>Fig, Fulton, Roman, Ceja, etc. Best by test, as they say

    Well, if you think about it, all rankings are based on triangle theory, but more with a more appropriate number of participants. I'm pretty sure if I look hard enough I could find a point where Inoue is >> a HW ATG

    You're just an Inoue hater. Not sure why, but it's strange.

    I'm not sure if anyone in the last 20-30 years smokes Inoue, but I agree that the Japanese superstar would absolutely have his hands full against a prime Donaire.

    Manny Rodriguez is much slicker than Fulton and he got destroyed in two...If Fulton brings his track shoes and runs for his life this might go some rounds if he stands and fights it wont go past three rounds...book it.

    I'm not so sure.

    Prime Donaire was one dimensional in the sense that he leaned almost exclusively on his left hook to win fights.

    The Donaire that Inoue fought both times was at peak maturity in terms of ring IQ, patient, and boxed far more intelligently. And he was more disciplined as well with his weight management. Leading up to the Inoue fight, Donaire said that he was in the best physical condition of his career and that he didn't allow himself to blow up between fights. He even said that he was walking around close to 150 in between fights, but was well ahead of schedule for every fight at his return to bantamweight.

    Furthermore, Donaire was just as durable and only a tick slower in speed. Remember, he basically had 4 highlight reel KOs bookending the Inoue fights, so it was a dramatic return to form.

    The only basis of comparison that we have is Narvaez. Prime Donaire was completely neutralized by Narvaez's defense and negative style and he wasn't able to do anything. 7-0 Inoue in training wheels still jumped 2 divisions and destroyed him in 2 rounds.

    I think the Donaire rematch would have played out exactly the same way with any version of either man. I don't take much from the first match because Inoue had his eye socket broken VERY EARLY in the fight and still schooled Donaire.

    Good post,

    This is true & yes people always seem to be ready to slap on credit for a decent fighter with an out by the saying of " His Prime" which doesn't always add up & automatically make it such a definite difference maker especially in the result being the opposite for that fighter,

    Especially when it's considering a fighter such as Donaire.
