Last night on BT Sports was a great headline world title fight with an elite fighter in one corner and a warrior in the other who gave his all. A good night of boxing where a big favourite was stopped by a tough old Argentinian at odds of 50/1. Great card as well last week on Sky Sports but certainly fans got stung with £19.99 Box Office for a non title fight between 2 non elite British fighters. The undercard was good but little difference to last night. If we get 2 cards like this per month between Sky Sports and BT Sports, then I am very happy. Long may it continue.
both the BT card and broadcasting was absolutely terrible and saved by Yarde doing better than expected
You say it was saved - it was just a great fight, and always going to be. One of the P4P best in the U.K. On non PPV. Some people are just never happy.
Out of interest am I right in saying sky and BT combined cost £65 plus £20 PPV and you would be happy for 2 cards with lots of prospects fighting in some cases 7-96 fighters deen into a main card for £85 a month
If you only subscribe to them for boxing then fair enough, but they have lots of other top quality content that we all know of and doesn’t have to be listed.
I honestly expected Yarde to do what he did. He is a very strong, game fighter who will give anybody a hard night. Rewind a few years and he was in at the deep end with Kovalev, away from home, and put on a sterling performance. The lads made from strong stuff.
With no intention of trying to come off as rude, what do you mean by one of the pound for pound best in the UK? Are you referring to Yarde? If so, based upon what? He has lost three times, once to a British level boxer, and knocked out in good efforts the other two times. What are his three best wins? Surely British boxing is not in such a dire state that a man whose best win is a British level boxer is one of the top pound for pound in the UK.
Both undercards were crap. The by one was appalling but a non ppv UK fighter in a world title fight is fair enough to get away with that I guess but the fights made below main event on nearly every card now are absolutely crap. 5 years ago was a golden age.
Ok. That’s wasn’t clear in the post. It said they were happy for two decent Cards per month. One with a great headline and the other on PPV for a fight that should have been on standard sky
