That's another thing that makes me mad at Arum over the Bivol fight not happening. To not attempt an honest negotiation for that fight when it's your 'underpaid' fighters biggest realistic payday... seems scummy.

Saw it this morning on fast forward, i think Beterbiev underestimated his opponent and had issues with his speed.
Im big fan of Beterbiev but at this point he losses decision to Bivol. Way too old and had some injuries too. Bivol is too quick for him and will just land again and again and as long as he avoids the exchange then it will be boring and easy decision.

Just saw the full fight on YouTube at 240p but man! That’s one of the better fights I’ve seen in a while. I thought Yarde was going to get ran through but he more than held his own. Minimal, hugging too!

Rewatched the fight... sound off and also a better view this time, neither guy was imposing themselves as much as I thought they were from my initial viewing. Yarde wasn't getting worn down as badly as I thought and a lot of ABs backing up was offensively minded, not because he was hurt or being imposed upon (though that did happen here n there).

Beterbievs skills are somewhat subtle... his jab is very good. Those two aspects remind me of Golovkin a bit in that regard.

He says he was just starting to warm up, I wonder how true that is... would have been interesting to see the fight play out had Yarde not gotten caught.

Most definitely, will be hard to beat this fight for action for the rest of the year. It was both technical and brutal, the durability and heart on display was nuts too. Can't fault it at all. Neither man came out of that fight the same as they were before and both should be commended for their efforts.

    1 Beterbiev
    2 Yarde
    3 Beterbiev
    4 Beterbiev
5 Yarde Round of The Year
    6 Yarde
    7 Beterbiev
    8 Beterbiev wins by TKO

    67-66 Beterbiev

I just watched this amazing fight one of the best Light Heavyweight fights of the modern era, with rounds 5 and 7 being candidates for round of the year. Yarde performed gallantly and gave Beterbiev some very tough moments, and at times looked like he might pull off the upset. But Beterbiev showing why he's one of the best in the sport, would always comeback and halt Yarde's momentum.

Overall a fantastic fight both fighters should be very proud of their performances.

I don't think so. Beterbiev vs Bivol is a good fight, but still won't generate lots of money. 2 Russians fighting each other, won't interest the Western audience. Both these guys would be paid sometihng around $750K, tops. That's why they're fighting western fighters instead of each other.

Beterbiev has a big Muslim fanbase. This last promotion was a step in the right direction.

The Saudis want to put the marquee events on and they have built a rapport with DAZN and Top Rank in the last few years.

I can see it happening there rather than in America.

You show one example where the guy is going down and you got the balls to spout this bull****.

I'm the guy to blame for pointing that out. I went back and watched just two rounds of his match with Gvozdyk and I counted in excess of 15 rabbit punches. Then with Joe Smith Jr. he was able to soak up the uppercuts and the hooks to the face, but if you watch the slomo of the knockdowns (below), it was almost always a cuffing rabbit punch that put him down. Then with Yarde yesterday, he badly rocked him with a right, then as Yarde was staggering off to the side, the back of his head presented itself as a target, and Beteriev didn't fail to take advantage. Not saying it's always intentional, sometimes it's his opponent trying to roll with his punches, but it does seem strange most of his KO involve at least a few shots that land on the top of the back of the head, or back of the head itself. Even go and check the Browne, Kalajdzic and Denies matches, it did seem as if he was targeting the backs of their heads consistently. At the very least, he's incredibly careless and irresponsible, and is willing to land anywhere he can land when he smells blood.
