Maybe in a fight or 2 but not now. He did about the best he could do and that fight took a physical toll on him. He should have a soft touch around the fall in his comeback fight. That said I don't think he has much of a future at 175 as far as getting a title goes.
Props to him for taking the Beterbiev fight, that was a war though so he probably deserves a tune up and then I reckon he should just jump straight back in with the best opponent he can get his hands on. He's obviously not scared to challenge himself.... unlike a lot of fighters these days unfortunately. Much better to take the bigger/harder fights than ***** around trading insults on social media talking about taking the bigger/harder fights.
Surprised how many people on here would actually want to see a Callum Smith fight. As for yard, skies the limit! Possibilities are endless for him. Hell put him in there with Canelo if Canelo ever has the balls to come back to 175. Either way, yard has proven to be a fan favorite, he will die on his shield for the fans . He reminds me of Edison Miranda, only better, more athletic. I'd love to see him in there with Jean Pascal may be. Too bad smith retired, that would be a good one too, but I think Smith has no soul left after fighting Beterbiev
Probably not fight again for at least 6 months, and that should be a tune up. 2024 he can get back in with world class operators. There's several good options for him domestically.
The problem with Yarde is he doesn't have any amateur experience. He is learning while getting KOed/TKOed in pro fights. This is not the kind of guy I want to see often in big fights, unless there is no other options. He has heart of warrior. But I don't see a bright future for him after Beterbiev. Beterbiev himself is not an A+ fighter. And 38 years old. We need some real talent in boxing, a guy who won olympic medal, is well polished, trained, and ready to KO his rivals. Enough of journeymen. Boxing needs a new batch of prospects.
Zurdo for his comeback fight and then Joe Smith for a 'big' make or break type fight. Smith would be an OK sized event, an exciting matchup, a credible opponent, and a good measuring stick.
It's an open question whether Smith Jr will ever fight again, Marcus Browne hasn't fought for more than a year either.
He said something along the lines of "Sorry I didn't win, I have to figure out what I'll do going forward". He's had a successful career, been a champion, made millions, beaten some good opponents but came up badly short twice at the elite level. And the Beterbiev fight was total destruction. So I can see why he might be seriously contemplating retirement.
Buatsi strikes me as the biggest fraud at light heavyweight. The man ducked a final eliminator against a shot Pascal FFS, just no ambition at all.
It seems people loved watching Yarde getting brutally beaten by Beterbiev. All topics are praising Yarde.
Can't he go the IBF route and fight Pascal? Could fight Richards for some domestic love too. Not sure if Richards is completely tied up with Matchroom/DAZN though
