Joshua is a hypocrite, he listed other fighters with whom he "wanted" a fight, and when he realized that they would represent a greater danger to him, he decided to fight Franklin...

Joshua needs a confidence builder and to get back to winning ways; he's without a win since 2020 and has lost his last two fights, to a much smaller and lighter punching B-side opponent. Sure he'd probably KO Whyte now but Whyte is bigger than Franklin, has a lot more high level experience and vastly more power, especially in his left hook: a shot that has caused Joshua problems numerous times. Plus they have a history (currently 1-1 in their series) and Whyte might come into the fight with ambition, making him significantly more dangerous than Franklin could ever be. Joshua-Franklin also gives Joshua practical experience with his new trainer, generates some revenue, potentially builds the Whyte fight and builds hype for Joshua if he can KO Franklin, which Whyte didn't manage to do.

Because he's just another dosser. He's procrastinating the chances of facing Wilder, Joyce and Fury and he already lost twice to the other top (Usyk). And he'll lose from Fury and Joyce and has like almost 50:50 against Wilder. So better fight one bum, then go for someone he already beat and that can pass as a top fighter, while he (Whyte) isn't.

    No confidence

And Hearn is milking his (now shell of its former self) cash cow for the final few paydays he can get

Just want to clarify, are you calling Usyk a b-side opponent?
