I agree, if Ward wasn't a strong fighter he would not have had as much success as he did. I'm saying that Floyd Canelo has little resemblance to AB and Ward. The ring is 20 feet and you're not talking about a man forced to step on the scales at 152 pounds. Where is Ward going to go? He will have to stand and fight.
He never lost because he fought at 168 for 98% of his career. Had he fought AB at 175, he would then have a loss. Ward lacks the physical properties to beat AB. Very very few 168lbers in history could beat AB.
More than enough. Nobody could physically impose their will on Ward. He just has too many things for AB to deal such as skills, speed, athleticism, know how etc however the real killer is Ward’s formidable will. These special types like Ward, Ali and Mayweather have a ferocious will. He would do things to AB nobody else has done to him.
Frazier physically imposed himself on Ali. Floyd fought little guys and isn't relevant to this discussion at all.
Ward would get to him make him miss and make him pay all night long. Only thing AB has over Ward is power that is a serious deficit against a fighter like Ward.
Ward beat a genuinely great 175 pounder better than AB in fact he stopped him making him quit. Sorry you are very wrong.
AB is definitely physically stronger than Ward. Ward is indeed very strong, but he's still a natural SMW whereas Beterbiev is a big LHW and his strength has often been compared to HWs. I do actually rate Ward, but couldn't pick him against AB. When he went to 175 lb he lost too much of the speed and athleticism he had at 168 lb, and his power is lacking at 175 lb. It's not a good matchup for him stylistically at all either - you need to keep Beterbiev off and gain his respect at distance to beat him.
When Ali was past his best. The better comparison because we are talking prime vs prime is Ali vs the formidable destroyer Sonny Liston who nobody else could beat. You think Frazier even stands a chance against the dancing master Ali in the mid 60’ s the guy who beat Liston, Foley, Williams arguably the greatest fighter the world has ever seen.
Ward won Olympic Gold medal at Light Heavyweight so Andre Dirrel could also go the Olympics. You don’t have to be stronger to win. When did being the stronger always win fights. Skills wins fights. Ward would do things to AB beat him on the inside and outside, make him miss and make him pay. AB strength might count against average to good fighters not a genuinely great generational fighter. He would need more a lot more against Dre.
When you say things like 'nobody has done x before', it's important to understand that that statement is predicated entirely on his opposition. As such, he's never been imposed upon because he's never fought someone like AB.
In the 11th and 12th rounds Froch began to impose himself on Ward. Granted, he couldn't take him over the edge, but that is a very bad sign for Ward if he were to consider a matchup with prime AB.
He fought very strong guys teak tough arguably better than AB. Name me one fighter AB beat anywhere near as good as Ward?
