Wilson is gonna puke when he rewatches that. You gotta hit the accelerator against the top guys when you have your moment. There’s usually no second chances.

I thought he would get him with a shot like that at some point but no way did I think he would have absolutely ****ed and on the verge of a stoppage. EM got a little lucky with that huge amount of time he had to put his mouthpiece back in after the KD and Liam's overzealous charge at the end of the 6th.

Obviously his prep was good because he took EM's punches pretty well until the 9th. Just took to many in the end.
Inexperience was telling, was a little lost and didn't have the punches in his kit to finish the job. Didn't instinctively hold when hurt to slow down the tide of Navarrete's punches in bunches. His defense hasn't been developed enough to get him out of trouble at this level.

But he will take a lot out of that fight and certainly would have won himself some fans.

Like any fighter I enjoy, I've been expressing doubts before all Navarrete's fights including this one. It just seems inevitable that the inconsistent training, basic flaws, immaturity, etc will catch up with him.

And I think Valdez will win. The only thing is though Valdez has looked disappointing a couple times in a row and is having his own issues.

Navarrete is the ultimate acid test, if Valdez comes in underprepared he will lose.

He's averaging 3 fights a year since 2018, that is well above what seems to be the standard for a champ of a fight every 9 months.

Great fight! I wanted the best man tonight to win, and the best man won.

My hat off to both men.

A lot of fighters done that.

There are much worse offenses, like low blows, elbows, headbutts, rabbit punches, excessive clinching, excessive ducking below the waist, running too much, thumbing an eye.

Spitting out the mouth piece once... not that big of a deal.. I don't like it, but there are much much worse offenses.

I timed the KD. Navarette was given 27 seconds to recover. It was obvious Navarette spit out his mouthpiece at the count of 7 and the ref was looking right at him when he did. The ref should have said continue fighting without the mouthpiece since it was clear what EM was doing.

Of course, there are "worse offenses". That's not the point. The point is guys laughing at the home fighter getting away with a fast one that may (I stress 'may') have cost the away fighter a spectacular and life-changing win. You don't have to be frothing at the mouth infuriated by it, but Jesus Christ at least don't celebrate and laugh at it!
