Just like the first fight, Mike couldn't keep Holy off him. Holy kept walking through his offense and punching. It really was just a repeat. All that said, I'm not sure even a peak Holy could have beaten 80s Mike.
Holyfield was punching when he came in and then tying him up. He was stifling Tyson's offence and making him pay for his offensive forays.
Outmuscling, outmaneuvering, outworking and with a bullet proof game plan. But it wasn't a foregone conclusion...
Ok so now i rewatched the fight this is how i scored it until round 6 Round 1: Tyson Round 2: Holyfield Round 3: Holyfield (close) Round 4: Holyfield (close) Round 5: Tyson Round 6: Holy 10-8 This was a truly great fight that was fought toe to toe and there was very little separating these two in some of those rounds. Tyson came out strong landed a couple big shots on Holy in the first round. Holy clearly took round 2. Round 3 and 4 were pretty much even. Tyson took round 5 big. Tyson started round 6 strong with a big left hook to Holyfield's head and couple more big shots. Tyson was winning this round until the knockdown. The thing is I counted at least 3 headbutts prior to that including that vicious one right before the knockdown that clearly weakened Mike and caused him to lose his balance. Up until that point it was Tyson that landed all the biggest shots of the fight so it's understandable that if you're not scoring this fight round by round (which are close) you would have the impression that Tyson was doing good.
