Last I heard he was being lined up for a shot at the European title at heavy, but that was some time ago and I don’t recall an official retirement announcement.
I was wondering myself. I heard nothing about it. They were going to make Huck-Kabeyal, which would have been fun. He is over 40 now, and I guess it is a good think if he did hang em' up.
Good riddance if he did. A nasty piece of work. He shoved Usyk at their presser for no good reason then rabbit punched him while Usyk was on the canvas after he slipped during their bout. Only a piece of trash acts like that in and out of the ring. It's one thing to act nasty when the other guy also acts nasty and you want to stand your ground, but when you have a respectful guy like Usyk and you shove him and try to insult him with some Russian words then fight that dirty too, that's personal. It was a very satisfying sight to see that thug getting battered mercilessly by Usyk in the tenth.
Some people think Usyk lacks power because he is primarily a boxer, but two people pissed him off--Huck and Tony Bellew. Look what happened to them!
This. He said many times that he'd never been keen on knocking people out as first and foremost, boxing is just a sport and why hurt others more than it's necessary for the win when you can outbox them too? He didn't jump on Chisora in that seventh round, despite Del Boy being clearly hurt and on the brink of being stopped. But as you said, if someone pisses him off, he can do some considerable damage.
He is an ethnic Bosnian born in Serbia. He emigrated to Germany with his family when he was eight. And yes, he specifically learnt Russian/Ukrainian insults to throw at Usyk (the word is spelt and pronounced the same way in both languages). He said "сука", pronounced as "soo-kah", meaning *****, slut.
His real name is Muamer Hukic he is from serbia https://www.facebook.com/marcohuckboxing/videos Seems like he isn't train anymore
Well, it worked for him so far. If he was to fight Fury in the UK, maybe he wouldn’t leave anything to chance and changed his approach, who knows.
