Who gave Canelo his toughest Super middleweight fight to date?

Although none of them were truly tough, I do think that BJ Saunders made Canelo work the most. Tough to know what to think about Golovkin. He did very little for seven or eight rounds and then took it to Alvarez.

Between Plant and GGG for me. I thought the GGG 168 fight was a schooling at the time but some people here claim it was close AND those scorecards were pretty tight so I ought to rewatch it closely

 

Saunders was the most competitive, for as long as it lasted.

Fielding should be removed as an option. He was as competitive as a cucumber. Chavez jr not much better.

 

Seeing as GGG made it to the final bell , I’d say old man GGG.

 

Easily GGG he actually hurt Canelo at the back end of the fight. Plant and BJS were slippery for a bit and maybe annoyed Canelo.

 

BJS' competitive rounds felt less like him winning and more like Canelo lining up his shot.

When GGG was winning it felt like he took over the fight.

 

I agree with what you say. The reason I didn't think GGG was the most competitive was that by the time he became competitive he had already lost the fight.

 

Billy Saunders, Canelo really wasn't looking all that great against that style, then *BOOM*, fight was over.

 

We'll never know what canelo could have been at 168 as he's fought nobody.

 

There’s only one top fighter at 168 that he hasn’t fought. What are you on about?
