Yes, I admit I always had a soft spot for Joe. What a fighter and what a guy he was. And although I always try to be objective and give credit where credit is due, there's no such thing as an always totally impartial analyst of course. I agree that Joe was behind all scorecards in Manila. I just think that Ali was ready to quit and Joe wasn't - therefore Joe would have been the winner by default if not for Futch. We will never know of course, but since it wasn't just a rumour but Ali talked about it himself, I believe that was the case. As for being biased with good ol' Smokin' Joe - as much as it pains me to admit, he never would have beaten Foreman. His style was just tailor-made for Big George. He showed tremendous heart (bordering on insanity) when he was brutally knocked down again and again and he just jumped back at George without hesitation. Perhaps Joe had even too much heart if that makes sense. There's a reason why Ali said: “If God ever called me to a holy war, I want Joe Frazier fighting beside me.” I often wonder how Joe would have fared if he had been able to see with both of his eyes, as he was basically half blind as you rightly pointed out. It's just speculation of course, but a Frazier with a fully functioning left arm and non-impaired vision... Blimey, he might have retired with an undefeated record. It's scary to think that he managed to become an ATG while having such physical limitations.
We will hopefully see. Just one aspect though: Usyk is unlike anyone else for a very long time. His mentality and psychological strength is insane. I know Fury fans like to claim how unique Fury is - but in all fairness, Usyk is the absolute warrior here. For all his remarkable features (moving well for his size, miraculous recovery powers, strong psychological game, excellent skills and knowledge of using his physical attributes etc.), Fury is still "just another 21st-century boxer". He cherrypicks his opponents and messes around contracts, money, and promotion. He manages his career the Mayweather way, taking credit for other people beating guys he never faced ("see, I told you AJ was no good, he was beaten by a fat little Mexican, what do you want me to fight him for" and all that jazz), playing to the ignorance of casuals with his untruthful "facts" ("I'm the only HW with multiple trilogies", "Usyk is not my generation"). In short: old-school fighters like Ali, Lewis or Tyson fought EVERYBODY who they were supposed to fight. Granted, the eighties were a weak era, but Tyson literally fought everyone. Ali fought everyone in the sixties and seventies, Lewis also - the only notable fighter he didn't fight and beat was Bowe who of course ducked him. Fury is nothing like that. He has all the tools to POTENTIALLY be like that but is nothing like that nevertheless. He is a very "modern boxer" in how he picks opponents, grabs money and lies about his physical attributes and brainwashes casual fans. Usyk on the other hand is your true old-school fighter. Fights EVERYBODY in their backyards. He is the Road Warrior. No contract shenanigans. No controversial decisions. No drug controversies, no trash-talking, no artificial beefs with fighters. He just relentlessly goes around his business, seeks out the best opposition available, travels to their backyards, and gives them the L (often for the first time in their careers). It doesn't matter to him where or under what conditions he needs to fight. He agrees o the terms, and he goes there then beats the guy, one after the other, always. The most honest guy in boxing in living memory. It's uncanny really when we are so used to loudmouth cherrypickers like Fury. So mark my words, mate: whatever you think of Fury and how unique he is - Usyk is the one true generational talent, the guy who, in future decades, will be talked about as "I can't believe there was a guy like him in an era like that".
The highest profile super-heavyweight vs cruiserweight champion matchups: Bowe-Holyfield x3 Lewis-Holyfield x2 W. Klitschko-Haye Usyk-Joshua x2 The record currently stands at 4-3-1 for the SHW's, although Lewis-Holyfield 1 was almost universally regarded as a robbery draw in favour of the cruiser and the 2nd most controversial result was Holyfield's MD win over Bowe, so 5-2-1 may be more realistic. The SHW's registered 4 KD's across three fights with 1 KO, the cruisers registered 1 KD with 0 KO's. So going by this SHW-cruiser record (12.5% SHW KO ratio), Fury is unlikely to KO Usyk, especially as Usyk has never been dropped or beaten as a pro and is the cruiserweight with the two most dominant victories over a super-heavyweight champion, uniquely as a clear B-side.
The Fury fans (and I'm a big one when he's not facing my #1 fav fighter King Usyk) want us all to try and pretend like Fury isn't 45-55lbs pounds heavier than Usyk, with a 7'' reach and an alleged 6'' height advantage and the fact that he's a giant of a man who is way way bigger than him has no bearing whatsoever on the fight. What are they smoking and on what planet are they smoking it on Fury will get his credit if he wins fair and square but go watch any interview with fellow fighters, trainers, pundits etc. where they're asked for their prediction for the fight and see what percentage of them cite size and Fury just being too big for him, and I mean even the vast majority of British ones. If they were even remotely close to being the same size Usyk would win because he's simply the better fighter. Hurts I know but that's what the truth can do when you swallow it whole.
Stick it up your ass, Minq. That featherfisted soft-chinned CW who isn't fit to lace Usyk's son's boots gave Fury ''his toughest fight''
Not only am I big I'm cool calm collected super sexy. There's not a man on the planet 200 pounds who can beat me. Usyk is featherfisted and Cunningham had never been stopped. The bodyshots are what sucked the life out of Cunningham also happens that it's Usyk's weakness also.
He will not get any credit for knocking out Usyk because Usyk is the dream matchup for him. And I think Usyk is super slow. You compare his speed with prime Mike Tyson, Usyk looks frozen in space-time.
Cunningham has been down more times than Fury. At least 12 times Th fact he was able to drop Fury like a sack of gypsy potatoes despite sporting a repulsive KO 32% is bad enough but his KO% against HWs is even lower than that, much lower Stevie couldn't even drop glass-jawed MMA fighter Frank Mir who has been stopped or KO'd like 10 times or something
Fury KO's anyone who drops him. It's literally in Usyk's best interests to not hurt Fury. Round 12 Fury has lost every round he looks useless, DOWN GOES FURY. OMG HE GOT UP OMG USYK IS IN TROUBLE. DOWN GOES USYK AND HE'S NOT GETTING UP
Usyk won't even try to hurt him He wants to take him to slick school Humiliate him in front of Paris and their kids This content is protected This content is protected
Usyk is a legend It's kind of sad really. almost nothing left in his tank but he'll spend it all just to see how far he can go. He'll retire this year. Fury however he'll spend his tank and keep going to the grave.
