Had a lot of misses but shouldve won Canelo 1. Second fight was a toss-up. To be fair he shouldve rematched Jacobs too. Probably shouldve rematched Dervenchenko as well.

Missed out on BJS, Lara, Charlo, and Andrade (maybe, BooBoo wouldve ducked probably). Aside from Lara though none of BJS, Charlo, or Andrade have fought anyone their entire career.

GGG was definitely NOT ducked as bad as some say and somehow fought 40+ fights but only ever fought something like 6 past, current, or future champions and 1 of those 6 was WW Kell Brook...so it is what it is

Def not a fraud nor a legit boogeyman but he had an intimidating stretch for about 18 months

I cannot believe some of the posts I see on here from guys claiming to be boxing fans. Since when has the Champ ever gone out & challenged his top contenders ?? Its their job to challenge him. No one ducked their bona fide contenders more than Floyd & Canelo & even robbed the contenders they were practically forged to fight. Do you see any top 160 contenders challenging GGG or any 168? Wheres Jermall ?? Hiding himself he hasn't fought anyone for months he may as we be retired. C'mon you so called contenders speak up

I think he had the tools to go down as an HOF but I don't think he received enough promotion to get him the big fights early.

Once he got to the top I think he fell out of love with the sport and just cared about his bank account.

    I don't blame him: it's a dirty, political sport.

Well it is when your opponent gets caught for 2 failed drug tests before a rematch plus in the previous fight G Had been robbed , yeah I guess it could make you feel disillusioned & focus on the money as his dream of becoming the undisputed champion is swindled away by corrupt officials etc ...

Jesus, the guy is like 40. What do you want from him? He fought Canelo three times and beat him twice. That’s not bad unless you think Canelo is a fraud. Bivol beat him soundly but he’s a really good fighter.

Golovkin was avoided like the plaque before Canelo 1. Quillin, Jacobs, and Chavez jr were all asking 10m+ guarantee to fight Golovkin. It took 2 years of Jacobs asking for ridiculous purses he was finally goaded into the ring. Eubank swerved him hard and was made to look like a fool when a welterweight literally signed his contract with only a couple days of actually reviewing it with no negotiations. Sturm was the first GGG duck that started it all. The only man in the division that had the balls to step in with Golovkin was Pirog who was in contract with Golovkin before he broke his back. Why would Golovkin duck the entire division when he signed to fight the biggest threat in the division at the time.

Everyone GGG "ducked" was either in a different division or asking for Mayweather money.

On top of that, he was robbed in the 2nd fight as well. He fought his heart out and rallied down the stretch and pulled it out, then was robbed of a 2nd victory. Remember, at least 30 ringside reporters had GGG winning the 2nd fight , 15 had it a draw, and two had it for Canelo. Nobody should feel embarrassed for feeling GGG won that fight.

Right, he just stopped Murata, then fought Canelo, where he had Canelo in over his head the last four rounds, then he's going to Duck Falcao the world beater? If he signed to fight Falcao the critics would be criticizing him for that as well.

GGG was awesome but I think he turned pro pretty late and certainly pissed away a good portion of his career at the start fighting in Europe…
He would have been so much bigger if he had turned pro in the States straight away.
He was a fan friendly killer.

I wish he would just retire as I think he will get beat by a chump who couldn’t tie his shoes in his prime.
It will be sad as either his iron chin will crumble like Tex Cobb’s did eventually or he will be dropped and stopped by body shots…
Either way, I don’t want to see it…

That’s why I’m happy Hagler never came back.
I love having memories of him eating punches like candy from Hearns, Mugabi and the Philly killers when his only reaction to heavy punches was a snarl!!!

Remember, the hater's like to pretend that the decisions were legit. GGG tied the all time record for middleweight title defenses with 20 and knocking out (18) of them, they have to try to discredit him somehow because that is an incredibly noteworthy achievement. If GGG got the decision in the 2nd fight like he should have, he would have 24 consecutive title defenses right now with 20 ko's. He would be 14-1 (10) vs Ring magazine top 10 rather than 12-2-1 (10) vs Ring mag top 10.

Here's another thing for those that claim GGG didn't fight anybody. The guys that GGG never fought during his prime at middleweight were Sturm, Martinez,Lee, Quillin, Saunders, Eubank,N'jikam. In 2017 and 2018, he was focused on Canelo right before his prime ended, after that he was approaching forty. First there is Sturm, who struggled mightily with Macklin and Murray and lost a unification with Geale. We all know what happend when those guys fought GGG, total destruction. Then Martinez struggled with Macklin and Murray, well you get the picture, same thing total destruction. Then you have Quillin, who drew with Lee and was ko'd in one by Jacobs, now Quillin, not so relevant. After that GGG defeated Jacobs in a close one. As for Saunders, he just won the title against Andy Lee in December of 2015, in April of 2016 GGG fought Wade and then later was Going to fight Eubank, but fortunately for Eubank he lost his pen, then Brook stepped in, and that was right before the Jacobs fight. N' jakam was defeated by Quillin and Lemieux and later Murata. By that time GGG was done with the 2nd Canelo fight, Saunders already moved up to 168lbs. So really, the only thing anybody can complain about is that GGG didnt fight Andrade or Charlo after the Canelo fights when GGG was already almost forty, the other fights previously mentioned weren't even his fault, those guys knew what would happen. He ripped through the middleweight division in dominant fasion.

Maybe GGG is just enjoying time with his family and deciding what he really wants to do.
