Julian Jackson,, Would He Possibly Have Stopped "Hands Of Stone ''?

A distinct possibility. Jackson didn't have the reach or hand speed of Hearns, but he could hit even harder.

A well prepared Duran could have caused Julian problems if he didn't land the big one, though.

This could be like the Iran Barkley fight, but the difference is I think Jackson's power is on another level to even Barkley's power, and Duran still got hit plenty by Barkley. Overall Duran has the skills to beat Jackson, but I just can't see Duran taking flush punches from Jackson.

Overall maybe Duran could fight a smart tactical fight and pull it out, but hows he gonna react when he gets hit by Jackson ? Who himself had very good timing and wasn't just some limited boxer with power.

It's a tough one but I'll go with Jackson by KO.

 

It is possible with Jacksons power but is it probable? Jacksons hand speed wasnt Leonard or Hearns level by any means. Plus Jacksons chin wasnt the best either, whereas Durans defense was always top notch, so Im saying Roberto wins probably by late stoppage.

 

Well Barkley hit Duran with plenty of solid shots even almost flooring him a few times, Barkley wasn't exactly a speed demon himself. Nor does he hit as hard as Jackson.

 

Jackson didn't have the setup, combos or reach of Hearns. But in terms of speed, power and accuracy he's up there with anybody. McCallum also said he basically had no tells, so you can't rule him out stopping anybody.

 

True, though that was a 37 year old Duran. Assuming we are talking the best MW version of Duran, we are more likely looking at the 32 year old who fought Hagler.

Plus, a fully focused (I.e. probably not the Duran vs Hearns) Duran would have likely fought more cautiously against Jackson than he did Barkley.

Jackson by KO is a sensible pick, gun to my head its probably what I'd go for, but a well prepared Duran around 83 would be a live underdog, imo.

 

It also depends what weight Jr Middleweight or Middleweight, does Duran's chances heighten at Jr Middleweight ? That's also a question.

 

Yes, just by virtue of Jackson being naturally bigger, I think MW suits his chances more. I've assumed MW because that's what the OP mentioned. At LMW, taking the Moore version of Duran, I'd honestly see it as tight as 50/50. Jackson could take Duran out with a single shot at any time, but if he hadn't by the end of the 6th, I see things getting difficult for him.

Yes. I think there’s an excellent possibility of Jackson stopping Duran. While Duran was “ competitive “ at Junior middle and middle, those were not his prime weight classes and Jackson was brutal at those weights

 

No .expect for a sucker punch Duran busts up Jackson and stops him . Apart from power Jacksons a fairly average fighter. Not hard to bit hit or slick .he also cut and got marked up.

 

Jackson could stop anyone with that insane power. I tend to favor boxers in H2H matches and Duran was so much better than Jackson, I may actually lean towards a win for Roberto. Don't know.
