At least Jake Paul: (1) Fights regularly; (2) Takes risks (for his level); (3) Aggressively promotes his fights If the top guys actually did those things, I'd be more willing to make fun of him.
Dude isn’t terrible, people hate him and his model, and I understand but the dude isn’t bad. He’s not great, and he needs to work on his cardio, but in terms of his raw skills, he has some tools.
I'll be interested when he gets a title fight, will the wbc allow an exemption for a title fight to be less than 12 rounds because of "historical significance" or other silly reason
I could see one upside. He gets ranked, and so then he fights other legitimately ranked fighters and gets smashed.
Seeing how the WBC can move him up based on their whims, I could see him moving up fighting the type of competition he's been fighting or worse because of the money involved with him
This division is in the toilet. I believe the Cruiserweight Title fight between Badou Jack and Ilungu Makabu is going to take place on the Jake Paul-Tommy Fury UNDERCARD in a couple weeks. (The title fight didn't even garner a mention on the official fight posters.) I've been a fan of Badou Jack's for years. But he appears to be shaky as hell these days. And even in his current state, he's rated #2 by the WBO, #2 by the WBA, #3 by the WBC and #7 by the IBF. If Paul somehow embarrasses the Fury family and wins ... IT ISN'T a loaded division ... and I don't know how many contenders he'll actually have to face before getting a title shot. Mauricio is probably penciling in the title fight already.
I just saw clip of Jake Paul getting paid 250K to get a bottle of vodka tattooed on his arm. I wouldn't recommend getting a tattoo that close to a fight especially on the arm and considering Paul is still a novice. It is likely a mind game to show Tommy he is not concerned with him. It is a decent sized tattoo as well so he will be contending with an irritating healing process.
Thread title should be changed to remove "phony". Jake will enter WBC rankings if he beats Tommy: This content is protected
I thought you had to have been signed up to VADA for x months to be ranked? As far as I know they've only just signed up for it last month... I suppose money talks though. As has been said elsewhere, fair play to him though. A lot of people here profess a long held love for the sport, but I bet most have never dared lace up a pair of gloves (or if they have its only to hit the punch bag by the mirrors in their local fitness centre)
