Honestly Fury is the number 1 in the division but people forget that he has previous for ducking - Price, Klitschko and now Usyk.
Ustinov shat pants against Pulev, it's not serious saying Fury ducked him, nor he ducked Wlad - he mocked him and really rid the division of his reign. As for Price - look at most of the guys who knocked him out and overall to whom he lost to... It's just that Fury started playing games too much and not really go for the best. Ofcourse, it depends also on the others, not only him, but he's the top one who should be calling top ones.
People have been taken in by this rumour, which has no sources aside from a boxing blog which has just put 2 and 2 together and ran with it. Meanwhile, Alex Krassyuk is due to visit this week and is very positive about doing a deal. Yesterday, Frank Warren told the media they've provisionally booked Wembley for April 29th in case a Saudi fight can't take place. This sort of news doesn't suit people's agendas about Fury so they don't talk about it with anywhere near the same enthusiasm as some random rumour. It does seem that, for some on here, they'd rather this fight falls through to add weight to their "Fury ducks big fights" agenda. It's such a strange mentality - all the noises from the right people and reputable sources indicate this is going ahead. As is normal for a huge fight, there is some negotiation about splits, purses etc but that's to be expected. An undisputed fight like this is fairly unprecedented for the modern era, given that one hasn't happened for so long. There will obviously be things to iron out. Again, this doesn't necessarily mean either fighter is "scared" or "ducking". I don't usually endorse Saudi fights, but in a way I think this would've been a good one to take place on neutral ground. As we all know, Usyk clearly doesn't care about being the away fighter, but having it at Wembley in front of a vociferous Fury supporting crowd does surrender a marginal gain in what looks like a very tight contest. I think it's possible they'll officially announce it at the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight in a couple of weeks, perhaps with both Usyk and Tyson Fury present.
I hope you’re right. But how dare you highjack this thread with a well written, well balanced and agenda free approach. Reported.
We know Fury can be tricky to negotiate with, but I'm hopeful this can get done quickly. I don't buy into the narrative that world class heavyweight boxers are "scared" of eachother. That's just nonsense. You don't get to the top of the sport with that mentality. Will Fury be wary of Usyk's skills? Of course, it would be ridiculous if he wasn't. Does Fury really believe all the crap he says about Usyk (to help build the fight!) of course he doesn't!. Likewise, Usyk and his team will know that Fury is a totally different proposition to anyone he's faced. I am hopeful it can progress now because unlike times when Joshua and Fury have negotiated, there doesn't seem to be as much ego which ultimately leads to talks breaking down. I think it's an intriguing fight, and may well end up being a trilogy.
Whether you think those fighters are any good or not it’s irrelevant. Fury ducked them, the fact he would have won means nothing, Fury has a history of trying to avoid anyone he himself perceives as a challenge or a threat. He knows Wilder can’t box and he knew he’d confuse Wlad enough to box to a points win. He’s said himself he always knew he’d beat those two. He threw his British title in the bin rather than fight Price, then claimed it was because winning the Irish title was more important to him, before preceding to fight Martin Rogan instead. Alexander Ustinov turned up as a late replacement and when Fury met him at the press conference he was fuming that he was trying to be ‘stitched up’ because the guy was in shape and had obviously been in training, he then preceded to drop out of the fight with only a few days until fight night. Everyone knows about the Wlad rematch and the absolute nonsense he pulled with the AJ deadline. Can soon add the Usyk fight. The man’s created a myth of what a warrior he is and how he’ll fight anyone when the truth points the opposite direction when he perceives there to be a threat to this aura he’s created for himself. I’ve said it before but he’d rather have all the fans saying he’d destroy this or that person than actually get in the ring and potentially have a close fight with them and shatter his myth. Sad because he’d probably beat everyone, he’s just got a weak mindset and doesn’t want to risk his ego being destroyed.
I really don't think all of the above is true and I really don't think you have any insight into what a strong mindset would be. Tyson is many things but weak minded isn't one of those. We do have some amusing posters on here.
"Everybody" saw how Fury toyed Wlad on the ring, so everything else is just Fury hate talking. Relevant or not, Ustinov is a weak opponent, nor Price is any amazing one. A lot written with not much of a solid content.
Literally said in my first paragraph that the quality of the opponents or whether Fury would beat them is irrelevant. You’ve missed the point entirely. You’re going off the assumption that you can only ‘duck’ someone if you’d likely lose to them, which is not the case. Fury ducked fighters he’d most likely have beaten, it’s well documented. If you can’t understand my post I’m sorry.
Here’s how the negotiations should go: ‘Do you both want a shed load of money to fight for all the belts?’ Yea. Contracts signed.
Not fighting someone against whom your chances are like 80% (or even more) is not ducking, it's not being interested in doing it. Plus, there was some family issue with Fury's uncle before the Ustinov fight. So I'm sure you get the difference between ducking and not being interested. Even if those fight have happened, Fury would've get "nah, he fought a bum like Ustinov and Price who's never been a real top".
