MM’s chin was off the finish China. He was lucky to not had another find it first. If you watch Foreman winning his 1st championship, some of those punches didn’t look hard.

I saw this fight live. I remember thinking Michael better look out for that punch before "it happened". George Foreman was looking to land that punch, but as you see on the video. it wasn't connecting. Until it did.

Hard to believe this was almost 30 years now. Auntie Jeanie (me) has been watching boxing fights (and films and music videos lol) for 43 years now!

There's no amount of money anyone would have been willing to pay moorer that would have been worth moorer losing his claim to the title at that time. He was being lined up to be a tyson victim on Tyson's comeback trail iirc. He had just beaten holyfield for the lineal. So much money to be had by holding on to the title.

My mom doesn't have much interest in boxing. I remember her talking about moorer after foreman slept him saying he must be the worst hw champ of all time to get knocked out by an old guy like foreman. I don't think moorer would have been willing to take that hit to his reputation for anything less than some ridiculous number. arum would never be willing to pay and at a certain point moving around money that large people notice. We're not talking about 10k in a brown bag for a journeyman to take a dive.

So no I don't think so.

I always thought it was a combination of fatigue/exhaustion and a well placed punch by foreman.
It didnt look like much but then again it only takes 7lbs of pressure to knock someone out

This is another thing that casts a huge shadow of doubt in the fix accusation. Moorer is STILL salty about it 20 years later, refuses to give Foreman credit (kind of like a lot of posters on this forum). He is very bitter and his expression darkens whenever the topic comes up. He gets especially angry whenever he hears people say Foreman suckered him into relaxing and standing in front of him saying he just got lucky. Doesn't make any sense if it was a phony punch and he got paid extra money.

How? He got hit with a perfect shot on the button of his always questionable ( at heavyweight ) chin ... Teddy Atlas said the shot didn't look like much but busted up Moorer's mouth real good.

That must explain Moorer's abundance of wealth today.

I think it was legit. Moorer just got careless and you can't do that especially against a guy like Foreman.

Can't believe people here actually think it was fixed. The lack of credit people want to give Foreman is astounding.

The guy fought Morrison, Moore, Holyfield, and Briggs in his comeback career. I don't mean to milk Old Foreman but I don't find it absurd at all to believe he could beat Moore in the fashion he did.

It gets old and in this case, really silly.

That kid would have to have been an Academy award winning actor to fake that...

nah, look in his eyes, even Marlon Brando couldn't have pulled that off.

All truly sensational achievements will have their detractors, you and I both know that, my good friend.
