I still want to see more evidence of Beterbiev vs elite fighters, hes beat some solid opposition and looked impressive doing it. But he hasn't beaten anyone quite on the upper echelon as of yet. And he certainly hasn't beaten anyone near as a good as a prime Kovalev. I'd like to see how Beterbiev deals with Bivol, then I'll comeback to this thread and make a prediction on this mythical match up.
Gvozdyk. Gvozdyk is undoubtedly one of the best Light-Heavyweights of the last decade and it´s by far the most impressive win on Beterbiev´s resume. However, I think I had Gvozdyk ahead on the cards when Beterbiev got to him. Great fight.
There isn't much between them in terms of boxing ability. Beterbiev is/was more durable. Kovalev doesn't like it to the body.
Kovalev always had a glass jaw and was badly hurt/knocked out by non-punchers multiple times. There is no way for him to withstand Beter power
Kovalev was a Brilliant champion. But the system shafted him & he went to ****.. Beterbiev is 39, & still elite.. despite years of inactivity.. as special as Kovalev was i think Beterbiev is just a different specimen. It would be a brilliant contest but at some point Beterbievs pressure would tell & Kovalev would wilt.. forget Kovalev v Beterbiev.. it's the Bivol fight we need.. second biggest fight in boxing... if not THE biggest fight..
Kovalev was more of a stalker w a crazy right hand. Beter would break Sergei down. Beter too methodical to me
Kovalev and Ward should be 1-1, with Kovalev being the first and only guy to beat Ward. Whenever Wards record is mentioned there should be and 1 next to the win column. Who beat him, people would ask, the Krusher Kovalev, the HOFer from Russia.
