Lewis eventually decided that his favourite sport was boxing. He took up boxing circa 1978. He became a dominant amateur boxer and won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in 1983. Foreman returned to the ring in 87 but in hypothetical matches how would Lewis have done in any matches v Foreman from 83-94? pick any year in between. At age 18, Lewis represented Canada in the super-heavyweight division at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. By that time he was ranked #6 in the world by the AIBA. He advanced to the quarter-finals, where he lost by decision to Tyrell Biggs of the US, who went on to win the gold medal. Despite being 6'5" tall, and having a very strong punch, his coaches admitted they had to pressure him to convert size and raw talent into aggression.

Lewis has a few shaky moments where he might get rattled by that heavy jab or the odd bomb here or there, but old Foreman doesn't have the speed to really capitalize on any damage he inflicts. Not to mention Lewis was good at surviving and forcing a fight to become a chess match. Foreman has his moments, but Lewis for the most part controls the pace with his more well rounded style and youth. Lewis UD.

A much more experienced Lewis was twice pasted by men who did not hit like Foreman. So we put a green Lewis up against old Foreman? At some point, Foreman is going to catch him flush with something he didn't see coming and may end it.

Oh if it's green Lewis, then yeah Old Foreman is a really dangerous fight. The Foreman who demolished Cooney and went to war with Hoylfield is an incredibly tough challenge. I'm not sure if Lewis makes it the final bell with his bad habits Steward needed to correct.

Lewis wins a wide decision over George, unless he gets hit.

A green Lewis survived right hand bombs from Bruno, who i would say hits as hard as an old Foreman. I think overall Foreman is a bit too slow to catch Lewis with a "surprise punch" that would turn his lights out. Remember Lewis did actually get up vs McCall although he was dazed, and vs Rahman he was cocky and offered him a free shot at his chin.

Foreman never really stopped any highly rated top 10 Heavyweights during his comeback, apart from Moorer who was outboxing for him for 9 rounds. Foreman also never stopped the likes of Savarese, Stewart, Morrison, and he hit Savarese and Stewart with everything but the kitchen sink and couldn't stop him, and both men have been stopped early numerous times.

And if the likes of Morrison who's chin was far worse than Lewis's can outbox Foreman for 12 rounds, i think i would heavily favour even a green Lewis to do the same behind the jab.

Doesn't look good for Old George in this matchup. From the era, Lewis is the last guy George would want to square off against. I see LL as probably the only one to possibly KO the old man.

Good point but Bruno didn`t catch Lewis with many right hands, Frank was mainly landing the jab.

But the ones Bruno did land Lewis took them, I also don't see Foreman landing many flush right hands against Lewis. Foreman didn't really stop any elite Heavyweights with one punch in his 2nd career apart from Moorer.

I'm pretty sure if Lewis never fought Tua, Morrison, Briggs etc you would have people claiming they would have knocked him out. As some have stated already, there is nothing about old Foremans record to suggest he would have anything but a slim chance against Lennox.

I agree that Lewis has this via UD. Perhaps less likely, but if it's a Lewis who has the mind to try for the KO in the mid to later rounds - well, as tough as old George was, a KO/Stoppage is not out to lunch as Lewis did have the power in potential.

That is true but George showed great guile setting up the punch that stopped Moorer, he had more guile in the ring than Bruno had.

None of those fights happened before 1994 when Moorer lost to Foreman and while Lewis and Lewis had just been stopped by McCall.

I wonder if Foreman's jab wouldn't have been a bigger problem for Lewis than his right hand. Not saying it would have given him the fight, but I can sure see it giving him trouble.
