It's not that he's horrible. He has a good voice, pronounces non-Anglo names well and has decent catchphrases. The problem is that he has too many catchphrases. He needs to find one that he thinks works the best and stick with it. Also, for me, the biggest thing is that he seems so self-promoting while he goes through his schtick. Everyone would love to monetize something like Michael Buffer did. In the 1980s Buffer would simply go with "Man your battle stations" for the semi main and "Let's get ready to rumble" for the main event. They both worked well.
Lennon is my favorite also. He is as professional as can be, rarely makes any kind of mistake and he realizes he isn't the show.
At least that has history justification. Diamante has chosen to repeat the fighter's surnames in the tradition of former ring announcers such as M. Mark Beiro and Setrha Ejdaharian. The practice of repeating fighter surnames began before the advent of advanced sound systems and was done so that fans on different sides of the arena could hear the athletes names. "The fight starts now" is the most annoying.
That's it for me ,his blatant self promotion . It smacks of being a little clownish.. I always liked Chuck Hull, it was about the fighters with him and his delivery was cool, and professional.
He's a complete bluffer and try hard. On one interview he said he was the toughest guy in his area growing up. Grade A numpty.

Well put. This is in part why I made this thread. The irony of this clown asserting the fight starts "now," and then prattling on with a completely unnecessary hodgepodge of mindless catchphrases is palpable!!
I like him much more than Michael Buffer. MB just screams at the top of his lungs and jumps around the ring when announcing fighters. Just terrible.
Buffer is past it but at his best he could give me goosebumps - when he announced Tyson Fury at the Klitschko fight that was some top tier MC work let me tell ya. Jimmy Lennon JR is the best one by miles though. Diamante would be better off in MMA or Youtube boxing or something.
