Yeah Ali had underrated power it's just often he fought on his toes moving backwards, and it's hard to really generate power that way. And as you said during 70s he used to carry alot of fighters, but when Ali decided to sit down on his punches he could hurt you. Your examples of those Ali fights are good examples, i'd also add the Bonavena fight where he turned that fight around with 1 punch the left hook, which wasn't even a signature punch for Ali.
I hate this argument. If I fought for example fifty taxi drivers and was never KO’d and then fought Mike Tyson and he brutally KO’d me in two rounds you could say the same thing. Frazier didn’t fight enough punchers end of.
I find that surprising considering that Larry stopped Earnie I also heard Foreman say he was afraid of Frazier
We could also throw chronically bad hands into the mix. Worth noting that Ali said his hands were fine for a change when he faced Foreman. So much focus on the rope a dope BUT that was a helluva punching display Muhammad put on. He really was hitting George very hard with well-considered shots. There are numerous still photos from Zaire that beautifully captured the true impact of many of Ali's punches.
Bad analogy. It ends when the first, middle aged, overweight cab driver knocks you out cold. Stop arguing. Just pay your fare.
He was landing some beautiful lead rights from the first round on. Foreman looked flummoxed, to say the least.
when was it that Norton & Shavers said Ali hit harder than Holmes because it looked like Larry was kicking the sh%$ out of Kenny Nor do I remember Ali knocking Earnie to the floor
Your observation is very astute, and I have not seen it run out before in this forum, kudos to you, furthermore I have viewed the FOTC from a different different angle and the amount of flush right hands landed by Ali on Frazier's face is insurmountable. hard thudding punches that very few HW could have taken over 15 rounds, thats why ( I am in a very, very small minority ) for me Ali should have been the victor, for sure Frazier landed hard shots, but they were far fewer than the punches landed by Ali and these were not powder puff blows by any means, I feel that I am tilting at windmills, but I maintain Frazier lost this fight. I am now retreating into my bunker...... stay safe buddy.
