Well Bivol is a better fighter than Barkley to be fair, and Canelo KOing Kovalev who is also a better fighter than Barkley, which is also above Canelo's best weightclass, is an impressive win for Canelo. P4P both Kovalev and Bivol rate higher than Barkley, and I'm not even a fan of Canelo and I love Barkley as a fighter.

Duran was a 36/37 year old former LW, who was past his best, fighting a huge and powerful MW, whilst being only 5’7 with a 66” reach.

An old fighter, beating a young, prime fighter.

Whereas a prime Canelo, (according to you he was prime) got a gift draw against an old and faded version of GGG.

A gift draw for Canelo was nowhere near the feat that Duran achieved in beating Barkley.

It was a much tougher challenge.

Yep and his legacy rightfully takes a hit. Partying and ill discipline may explain some of his performances, but they don't prevent his all time standing being adversely effected.

His best wins are light years ahead of anything Canelo achieved.

 

The specific version of Kovalev who Canelo fought, wasn’t a better and more dangerous fighter than Barkley. He was more skilled technically, but not better or more dangerous.

That version of Kovalev was shot. And they purposely rushed him straight back into a camp after the Yarde fight.

But Canelo beats him at 154+ and a draw with GGG is harder than a narrow win over Barkley. And Moore was a hypejob.

A legitimate draw would be, yeah. Either would be/are downright absurd for a 37 year old natural LW. Certainly way beyond anything Canelo could even dream of achieving.

Moore beat 40-1 Ayub Kalule a year before Duran and Wilfred Benetiz a year after. If he was being hyped as a p4p star (he wasn't), he was overhyped. Otherwise, he was a prime decent belt holder, 3 divisions above Duran's best weight. And it's a not even close to Duran's 2nd best win.

 

And Canelo won the rematch. Duran lost every rematch of his loses and draws in championship fights.
