Excellent evaluation. Totally agree with it being a poor boxer against a you tuber who was worse

Paul-Fury weirdly mirrored Makabum-Jack, where the fighter with even a basic grasp of proper boxing form won against the man who was unconventional and only occasionally dangerous

Makabum-Jack: people say the middleweight division is a graveyard. The cruiserweight division is borderline bridgerweight/IBO belt tier at this point and I'm being serious. I don't give a bollocks about whatever shite Ben Shalom is trying to cook up over here either. It's barely a thing. I don't even think Canelo wants a piece of this division due to how bummy it is, and I'm being serious. Makabum could easily fight @ 175 with a watercut or even 168 if he dropped some muscle mass. He's always been a B-tier cruiserweight so there's no surprise there. It made me laugh when the BT Sport DKSAB commentary clowns kept calling Makabum chinny. Makabum has a damn good chin, he just has garbage balance. Once again, hate on Adam Smith all you want, he actually follows the sport better than Frank's goons. I've never really liked Jack as he's always come across like a man with a serious identity crisis outside of the ring. The better man one, but just highlights how unifying belts in one division is a FAR better accomplishment than becoming a multi-division champ. Also the BT Sport commentary team made me laugh again, comparing this to Hearns, ODLH, Pac etc. Yes lads, clearly the same

Paul-Fury: this fight reminded me of Thor-Eddie for those who saw it, where Thor spent his time learning the boxing basics and Eddie spent his time trying to be Floyd or Marge Simpson or something. Y'know, Thor had that basic boxing stance, rangefinding jab, one-two, reactive hooks and uppercuts, while Eddie stayed low, traded with that high left jab while looking away and throwing giant rights while down low. In the end Thor won a convincing decision despite being knocked down from Eddie's unconventional shots

The exact same applied to Paul-Fury. Jake took up this weird stance and Tommy just showed him levels. It's as simple as that. Tommy's professional competition has still been dire, but he showed Jake levels. In fact if Jake didn't clinch as often, Tommy probably would've stopped or at least dropped him with a combination. What confuses me is how poor Jake's form looked after spending so many hours in the gym. Is this because he's being trained by pros rather than being treated like a proper amateur? idk, it was just weird

I'm kind of glad Tommy won because he showed that boxing is not a sport you can conquer without the fundamentals (unless you're some RJJ-tier athlete) but I originally wanted Jake to win as this Fury ''boxing royalty'' wank is getting annoying

    Whatever/10

All credit to Paul for pushing his limits. Relative to his ability he takes on harder challenges than the vast majority of top fighters today.

As others have said, it's a bit hard to see where he goes from here, though. If he would try and advance to the top level fighters he will get brutally beaten, and going back to face MMA fighters might feel a bit stale after having a proper pro fight.

Maybe a much smaller top fighter like Spence or Crawford or a retired one like Froch (Froch himself seemed up for it)?

Spence and Crawford would destroy him. Fighting a smaller fighter is not a bad idea, but he should fight someone levels below that.

I just spent way too long searching YouTube and Twitter for a short (under 5 seconds) embeddable video clip of that idiot Tyler Perry in his awful Madea character doing that "Hallelujer" bit, or even a clip of South Park making fun of it, and goddamn it's annoyingly difficult to find things like that even when they're massively well-known pop culture references. I hate that YT doesn't let you filter out any more granularly than what it calls "shorts" (which can still be up to a full minute in length). So forget it, this is a better reaction anyway, but I'm still going to be irrationally mad at the internet for wasting my time:

    :ibutt :ibutt :ibutt

(...and even madder at Tyler Perry for being an idiot and making that brain-worm my first instinct to react with)

He lost every round to a part time professional who's close to his size so the answer is go fight elite fighters that he dwarfs in unsanctioned fights? For what purpose at this point?

Not true you've replied to 17 of my posts, many of which are snarky snipes at the 5 x winner of Poster of the Year

I replied to 11, 12 of yours now, all of which in response to your replies/snarky replies to me and only the last one being me firing back at you with a little barb of my own

Because I try to be fair, I perform my role well and I'm genial and I bring lightheartedness, fun, and humour to the forum and I don't take myself seriously at all

Because the people love me, especially my public/fanbase who adore me

Turn and burn, baby. Turn and burn

And last but not least - respect. Because I'm a straight shooter who cannot be bought, and I stand for the people and the common man, and I'm not afraid to speak truth to power to try and change the system from within.

    Money and attention.

But not saying that it will happen, just entertained it as a possibility. If he's going to try and match-up with elite fighters, I reckon that even he himself understands at this point that they will have to be a lot smaller. Going for very average fighters closer to his own size probably won't make much sense if they don't have a name, like Tommy Fury does. And otherwise it's back to MMA fighters and Youtubers. After a rematch with Fury, which most likely will happen.

What is going to make people want to watch this dude fight at this point? He's proven that he's a bottom of the barrel pro fighter. The days of people wanting to see him KO celebrity's and hobbiests are over and not coming back. I can't even see anyone being interested in this rematch. He got outclassed by a prospect and he's already 26 years old with no true weight class

This thread was more entertaining than the main event, and I actually enjoyed the fight. A win win for me.
