Prime Loma never faced anyone of note and neither has Haney as far as I'm concerned. The best I can say for lightweights the last several years is that there has been a crop of good lightweights but none have sniffed entering into a debate for greatness. Loma definitely has a chance against Haney, I would'nt consider it a shocker if he won.
This is revisionist history… Russell, Walters, Rigondeaux among others were only “not noteworthy” AFTER Lomachenko made it look too easy……
So 40 year old Rigo going up 2 weight classes and almost getting murdered by Amagasa is a noteworthy win for Loma huh. So I don't want to hear any excuses if Haney beats a 35 year old Loma who has been fighting in this weight class for years.
People who tear down fighter's resumes for no reason sure are a bizarre bunch of folks who almost certainly underachieve in their own life.
You can find a way to justify anything you want to believe… Loma was clearly bigger than Rigo when they fought, and it certainly had an impact on the fight. ATG level win? Maybe not, but “noteworthy”? Yeah, unless you’re a hater… Just like how virtually everyone Loma fights at 135 is clearly bigger than him… Why take a statement I made and just assume I’m being dogmatic and ignoring nuance? If Haney beats Loma, it’s a good win. Is it an ATG win? No, for obvious reasons, similar to Loma over Rigo…. But certainly “noteworthy”.
It is such a good fight. Hurry up and announce it already. Haney did get old-manned a bit against Linares, but only at the end and he's come on a good streak since then. Haney is both bigger and and faster at this point - a very bad combination for Lomachenko to overcome. But if anyone can do it with the timings and the angles it is him. Haney for me, decision.
I hope you are right. I'll be rooting for Lomachenko. But Haney is a natural welterweight with MUCH longer arms, and Loma is a natural featherweight - the size difference is too much. If they were the same size, Loma would win. Also, Haney is a very good boxer, and has youth on his side, while Loma has slowed down a bit.
Oh yes, plus Rigo & everyone wanted it & then they got what they deserved, Plus i saw many implying Loma was avoiding to fight Rigo constantly time & time again until he actually went in & beat him bad, embarrassed him & his hokey fans.
It's not even comparable to the Rigo win lmfao. One guy has been fighting in that weight class for what 5 years and just turned 35. The other moved up 2 weight classes and is 40 and was getting brutally hurt by journeymen. Nice try though.
I recall him uploading video's of himself dissing Loma before the fight was signed trying to goad him into the fighting & saying he is going to beat him, then didn't he end up quitting? This content is protected
