An excellent win against a good opponent away from home with the deck stacked against him. Not a great fight but stopped Wlad's jab and thereby most of his offence. Wlad looked to be slowing down ( but proved his was still dangerous V AJ sometime later) its top class win.
For me personally it was one of the coolest days ever. A big fight like this 30minutes away from home. A cool night out with the boys and a real big win betting-wise as i bet the **** out of Fury as a massive underdog. I will always remember that night. From a stylistic point: It was a boring fight but a masterclass performance by Fury. He exposed Wlad badly. And it's for sure a Signature Win on Furys resume. He went to Germany and beat the Champ. He went to the US and beat the champ twice. If he beats Usyk some day he'll be one of the best Heavyweights EVER.
About as good as Trevor Berbick's win over Muhammad Ali? No, not quite as good, because Ali was a better heavyweight than Klitschko. https://boxrec.com/en/event/2121/791
Nah, you're being too pessimistic. He KOd old Klitschko and Klitschko has no resume after the Fury loss. Away from that, more on Joshua in general: Even though he did go 1-1 with Ruiz, he was winning the first won easily until he got caught. He won 11 rounds in the rematch, and would probably win 11 again if they fought.
Master class of mind games really, but the rematch would have been interesting though. I still think Prime Fury takes Prime Wlad though. Wlad's too predictable and Fury would dodge and take his best shots most likely. 7/10 I think Fury scores a UD vs Wlad.
That fight permanently turned me off with the heavyweight division. If those two fighters were the best in the division, it wasn’t worth watching anymore.
It was a very good win even at 39 which for heavyweights isn't too old anymore Wlad was easily still the best in the division. The strategy from Fury was very clever most of Wlad's previous opponents thought they could KO him like Brewster and Sanders did but that was along time ago. Fury out boxed him and that showed his class it's not like he caught an old shot fighter at the right time and knocked him out.
Wlads fight were already very boring. Heavyweight been more fun sonce then. We almost had a decade of AJ, Fury, Wilder, Ruiz Usyk giving us great fights. I just wish to see AJ vs WIlder and Fury. Fury vs Usyk and AJ and its been great. The reluctany to make those fights pisses me off. Should have already happened in most cases.
Fury really studied and understood Wlad perfectly. That much was clear from the gloves off discussion. Its also one of the best mental destructions I have seen. Wlad is a smart guy but Fury outwitted him and got under his skin perfectly. Thats why its a shame the second fight didint happen. It would have been very interesting to see what Wlad would have done and how Fury woukd hsve adepted to it. Fury sabotaging himself out of that fight so he can remain champ in his mind is exactly why he is currently ducking Usyk unfortunately. But lets hope Fury proves that wrong and Fights Usyk and eventually AJ Of he wins those fights his legacy will go from riddick bowe level to a very highly rated atg heavy.
Great win over a long reigning elite level HW champion in his own back yard who hadn't been defeated for a decade
Great win (atg win). He outboxed an atg in his "home turf" and ended his 11 years winning streak. Some observations: Wlad was mentally not in the right position (problems with his spouse) Wlad was not motivated like usual, almost bored Fury as clearly on peds (definitely before the fight) Fury beat him razor close (he outlanded wlad with 2 more punches per round) So in the future everyone will remember that Fury dethroned the atg wlad in Germany. All the other observations will be for the bin
>Wlad was not mentally well Fury gained 100lbs after the fight and tried to kill himself, supposedly.. So no pity points for just Wlad on that one.. >Wlad was not motivated Not Fury's problem to be honest >Fury was clearly on PEDs Proof? And Wlad wasn't, with his body like that at 250lbs? >Fury beat him razor close He won more than 6 rounds comfortably.. And i'm a fan of Wlad way more than I am of Fury, but come on now
