Ghuk now the man walking Naz down, but not landing any more effectively for it. Both loading up and whiffing. Naz has a little more leverage on his shots as he's bending his knees and giving himself a little spring-action. Ghuk stunned with half a minute left. Ref gives him a standing eight as he's backpedaling, although he didn't appear that badly hurt or on the verge of actually going down. Weird.

Just watched the slow-mo replay, basically Ghuk's neck got extended like a losing Rock Em Sock Em Robot as Naz tore into him with shovel-hooks and two-pieces as he was covering up. Still think it was a weird spot for a count from the ref.

 

Both are looking to avoid their first pro defeat. Ghuk's record is 1-0 (per the ring announcer, but on Boxrec this is listed as his debut) and Naz has fought once before, to a draw in 2021.

 

Naz bullying Ghuk in the final frame, just trotting across the ring after him and scoring undefended jabs and chopping combos. Ghuk trying to clinch and survive for dear life. The ref finally separates them and gives Ghuk another standing eight while he's getting flurried upon and trying (and failing) to hold Naz. Ghuk turns his back on the counting ref and walks to his corner, effectively quitting with exactly thirty seconds left in the fight.

This one started with a single fun round and then devolved into sloppy, one-sided anticlimax.

 

Because of just a few days ago Gassiev has gained his Armenian citizenship.

Why, though? I have no idea. He is ethnically Ossetian.
