Whoops! In the time since I last updated, Hu Tan Le scored the biggest win of his career in a defense of the WBA Asian title vs Filipino fighter Jake Amparo (11-3) where he achieved a split decision victory to move to 6-0 3 KO
March 25th card: Huu Toan Le (6-0 3 KO) is fighting Garen Diagan (9-3 5 KO) from The Philippines in a defense of his WBA Asia Minimumweight title. Diagan is a former Philippines champion at 108. Le is #7 with the WBA at 105 at the moment, and this defense will probably push him up a rank or two if he wins. If he keeps winning, he might be the first male Vietnamese fighter to fight in a major world final title eliminator. Ngoc Hai Nguyen (4-0-3 3 KO) is taking a huge step up vs Campee Phayom (22-5-2 14 KO) at super lightweight. Phayom is a former super lightweight Thai champion, fought to a draw for the OPBF Youtth Super Feather title, and was winning handily on the cards in a WBA Asia Super Feather title fight before he was stopped in the 7th. Sort of a regionally important battle, the winner will likely be in some sort of regional title fight after. Hong Dat Vo (4-0 3 KO) is taking a step-up vs Rachata Khaophimai (12-3 9 KO) from Thailand at super lightweight. Dinh Hoang Truong (3-0 3 KO) is fighting Dae Hyun Baek (4-1 3 KO) from Korea in the first defense of his WBA Asia Super Middle title.
I wonder what the reaction would be if a foreign fighter walked to the ring to this. This content is protected
Diagan wins by split decision against Le IN Vietnam! I personally scored it a draw but if had to pick a winner, would have been Diagan. Much cleaner work for him and really beat up Le’s face throughout.
I'm French and I'm surprised nobody talks about my favorite Vietnamese boxer. Ngoc Hai Nguyen, 30, lives in Hanoi, but trains at the Saigon Sports Club: in the Super Lightweight division, he has 5 wins, 4 KOs and 3 draws. I call him the "Tyson of Hanoi"; he's a hard-hitter with an aggressive style like Mike Tyson. But his defense is lacking, he's technically garbage, but he's got a second wind that would allow him to finish many of the top 50. He's had a few fights abroad: Seoul, Tashkent, Tokyo... he's held his own against some good South Korean champions, drawing with Min Ho Jung for example. He won the WBA East Asia title in 1 min 38 seconds against Thailand's Campee Phayom, who had 22 wins to 5 losses: This content is protected
Van Thao Tran will box the 13th january of 2024 on the same card than Van Hai Nguyen against a Chinese from Chengdu named Gui Ming Li with a record of 6 wins and 4 losses. Van Hai Nguyen will be fighting his 8th pro bout the 13th january 2024 at Incheon, South Korea against "Azucal", Filipino boxer Genesis Servania , with 34 wins (16 KOs) and 4 losses. The Filipino has notably boxed against Carlos Castro and Oscar Valdez, former WBC Super Feather World Champion. He also has a victory over Thai Panya Uthok "Pungluang Sor Singyu" former WBC Bantamweight champion. The Filipino also beats the former WBA Super Fly champion Rafael Concepcion of the Dominican Republic on his list of victories.
The last fight of Van Thao Tran the vietnamese superstar of boxing : A victory by unanimous decision against a mexican Kenbun Torres 12 wins (9 KO) for 4 looses before the fight. This content is protected
It's this weekend on DianXing Zhu vs Richard Garde undercard. 13th January 2024 at Incheon, South Korea. + We will have another vietnamese boxer Hong Quan Dinh (Super Featherweight) 10 wins (4Ko) for 1 lose and 1 draw will be back against the japanese Yoji Saito 5 wins (5KO) for 3 loses and 2 draws.
I originally made this thread as a joke, but with the Servania fight it might actually have some use. Back our boys in red and yellow!
I think it's a interesting subject, because a lot of vietnamese boxers are interesting and boxing in Vietnam is in expansion. And in addition Vietnam is a former colony of France, so for me it's good and normal to be interested by this country.
