If we mean that he gets no other training, then it depends if the boxer has 1 punch power. He might get a knockout 2/10 against top mma guys. Good boxers won't crossover though, as the difference in pay and training effort is so vast.

Are you saying boxers would do well in MMA fights? Takedowns, leg kicks and kicks in general give MMA fighters a huge advantage. It’s possible to learn defense to a certain extent but harder than you think. Since MMA doesn’t pay as well as boxing for top fighters, we may never actually see this in practice (top fighters facing each to er in an MMA fight). A top MMA fighter isn’t going to try to box a boxer. Just as a top boxer isn’t going to try to kick or submit an MMA fighter. It’s possible a boxer might land a KO shot and the smaller gloves would give him advantages, the MMA fighter would have massive advantages in an MMA fight. This should not surprise anyone.

When did this happen WTF ? i never knew this took place. As for the thread i think a boxer could do well in the Octagon, a fighter like Belfort did well using his quick hands and was primarily a striker.
How did you miss this? But MMA guys who have done well outside of MMA, they have all been good strikers. And like a few above have said, I too doubt we will ever see a competent male boxer transition to MMA.
He got choked out by Kimbo Slice and beat an obese Tim Silva. Silva was a good win for him, but it only lasted 9 seconds. So we didn´t really get to see anything at all.
Honestly i don't keep up with current boxing news as i should, i'm more into old school boxing despite being 23. But honest to god i had no frigging idea this even took place, i'll check it out later because i'm quite curious how Silva went about beating up Chavez Jr.
Because he was dumb. If it was Randy Couture or anyone that doesn't care about proving a point, he would just go straight for the takedown and Mercer would have lost. Kimbo ****ing Slice choked out Ray Mercer, and Kimbo was a novice whose strength was actually punching in street fights.
Alright in a very loose sense. He got beat up in 2 kickboxing matches, chocked out by Kimbo and beat Sylvia in the roght context. 1-4 overall.
