Just did my 1910s list. I'll start to do more than 10 once we get to the 1930s. It's honestly incredible how much some of these guys just did a year let alone an entire decade. It makes making the lists for the early decades kinda overwhelming. Which is why I'm only doing 10. I couldn't tell you who was greater between the bantamweight trio of the 1910s to save my life. So I won't.
Less than a week for the 1910s deadline, which is March 12. The 1920s Deadline is March 26. Other deadlines coming soon.
Sorry i missed the first two rounds but here is my top ten of the 1910s 1 Harry Greb 2 Sam Langford 3 Jack Johnson 4 Tommy Gibbons 5 Packey McFarland 6 Jimmy Wilde 7 Benny Leonard 8 Mike Gibbons 9 Harry Wills 10 Ted Kid Lewis

I like this list Noel. All of my top 7 appear in your top 8. 8 of your top 10 appear in mine. You have Wills at 9 & me at 12, so no big difference there. The only big difference is Jack Johnson, who was my #4 in the 1900's, doesn't appear in my 25. For me his 12-1-1 record, with only a few of those wins notable, wasn't enough. I think the 1910's was one of the strongest decades, possibly only 2nd to the 40's. The fact that Freddie Welsh, Johnny Kilbane, Pal Moore, Pete Herman, Kid Williams, Jack Dempsey nor Kid Norfolk appear in either of our top 10's, is testamount to this, imo.
Thanks Greg.I have to admit i am a big fan of Johnson and i get critcised many times for ranking him so highly and that i understand but i am happy with my choice.I pondered for many hours over this top 10 because as you rightly point out there are so many great fighters to consider
Me too. I rank Johnson #6 all time at HW & as mentioned had him #4 in the 1900's. It's just I feel it was that decade, rather than the 1910's, when he was at his best & where he did his best work. That's just my view, the important thing, of course, is that you're happy with your list, and like I say, it's a list I like. I particularly like your inclusions of McFarland & T. Gibbons. McFarland was 48-0-3 in the decade & was considered to be on the better end of at least one of those draws, vs Freddie Welsh. He beat my #5 all time WW Jack Britton x 2 & my #6 all time MW Mike Gibbons during the 1910's, as well as Jimmy Duffy, Matt Wells, the brilliant Owen Moran, Dick Hyland, Tommy Murphy x 3 and Young Erne x 2. Amazing record. Tommy Gibbons went 47-0-2 & beat Harry Greb (no less!), the 15lbs heavier Battling Levinsky, Billy Miske x 2, Willie Brennan, Buck Grouse, Gus Christie x 4, George Chip x 5, Clay Turner x 2 and Bob Moha. That really is an extradorinary record.
Take your time. The next deadline is March 26, and then it will be 2 a month going forward. That said (and this goes for everyone), it's NEVER too early to get in other decades that are a couple of months away. My guess is this will ultimately wrap in September.
